Feedback Overhaul

I believe the feedback system is outdated in needs a major overhaul. Unfair negative feedback is not good for the seller and definitely not good for eBay because it turns buyers away. In a time with so much online competition ebay does not want to lose business and needs to re-think its feedback policy.

Here's a few suggestions I have and your input would be appreciated.

1. Feedback should not be positive, neutral, negative. Scrap it. It should be just feedback comments. Buyers can still read through comments etc.

2. Sellers can leave comments for buyers (again not pos,neg etc.. just comments)

3. Feedback time limit should be 30 days. Why do buyers need 2 months to leave feedback?

4. Keep the DSR ratings. They are more rellevant and can be viewed with the comments.

Feedback Overhaul

 1. Reword DSR for postage time to Dispatch time.

2. Add separate DSR for Aust Post and other freight co for delivery times and send on results to them ๐Ÿ˜„ (just joking)

2. Non-paying buyers - 3 strikes - then account sanctions

3. Non-paying buyers - limited and transparent non-payment strike removal

4. Number of non-payment strikes show on buyer feedback page

5. Number of disputes show on buyer and seller feedback pages

6. Phone ap feedback console changed to be consistent with rating order on web

7. Dispute process includes a step requiring buyer to contact with seller before a neutral or negative feedback can be left

8. No feedback able to be left for transactions that are mutually cancelled.

This seems to be a good starting place.

all you need to do is open Five Non Paying Bidder disputes, and close them 4 days later, ebay will remove those negatives and issue the bidder with strikes.

follow ebay rules and you'll be ok.

put your blocks in place to stop bidders with 2 or more strikes from bidding on your items.

You could have done something about that other negative as well. It was a positive comment. It's possible, and probable that buyer used a mobile device for leaving that feedback as they are notorious for getting the dot colour wrong ๐Ÿ™‚

That buyer that left 5 negs is definitely one for the special list - seems to regularly score a few refunds ๐Ÿ˜

Your suggested system seems to just simply try to hide away the negative feedback.

Why is it always sellers who want the feedback system changed. If you did everything right I don't see a problem. You would get very few negs if any, and the ones you did get would easily be seen as what they are (a false neg)  and there would be no problem.

I just purchased from a person with 2 recent negs and a 1 neutral  that were all fairly recent. They had about 47 positive if I remember correctly.

After reading the negs and neut comments I had no problem at all placing my bid and winning because I could see the seller had only very minor issues and they were not scammers.  ( and I received my item as described)

There 2 negs were there mistake(sellers) they listed the items BIN at the wrong price and refunded in full. Not good but honest. The neutral was for a railway watch that was very old and according to the buyer was not originally a railway watch and has had the face changed. I could not tell and im sure the seller would not know unless they had extensive knowledge in this area.

My point is as a buyer you generally know if negs were warranted or not buy the comments. Now if it said did not receive etc then I don't go there.

Feedback is a reflection of the buyers experience with the said seller, It does not mean there right.

Feedback is the way it is because of you people yourselves (the sellers) for abusing feedback when you had that privilege of using it.  To many used it in retaliation for receiving either neg or neut feedback.  Leaving a neg because a buyer left you one is not a good reason. Hence that privilege was removed.

I'm not so sure now that the seller didn't deserve those negs.

I asked how much to post something, and was way over quoted. Maybe the buyers comment have substance after all. ?:|

I don't agree with the changes the OP has suggested, but do think ebay needs to scrap their own interference in sellers' businesses based on the 'anonymous' DSR ratings.

If they need to save money by shutting down servers than it is probably related to a lack of FVF's due to the amount of businesses they are limiting - based on 1 or 2 star ratings left anonymously.

With an ID I recently started (in the last 10 months) I had only been selling for two months when I received 1 star ratings on all counts by someone who won some brand new jewellery for .06c with free postage.   They left the ratings two days after I posted the item, which was posted same day they paid.  Yet that unfair rating contributed towards my standing with ebay, and my standing in best match.

It's ridiculous.  The star ratings should be a guide for buyers, that can be seen at a glance, not a hidden demotion waiting to happen based on ebay's unrealistic expectation that buyers are always right.

dotcom that may be so too, but check out the neutrals and positives left by that buyer for other sellers- theres two or three too many refunds from a relatively low amount of purchases for my liking
