Absolute disgrace that Ebay takes a 12% or more fee off the postage cost paid by the buyer, should just be off the purchase price of the item, just makes it even more uneconomical for the seller to use Ebay

Thanks for all your replies and yes I am a novice. I unfortunately under weighed a heavy parcel (Aust to Colombia) my bad, so it was a considerable amount of money I was out of pocket and then to find out that ebay (my ignorance) also withhold another 13% for postage really peeved me off. As you all mentioned, I will add it to the buyers cost next time, thanks again.

There are a great many threads on the boards about this subject, suffice to say it's been in place for many years now and savvy sellers will build all fees into their selling price, so that effectively the buyer pays for those fees not the seller.

Those fees have been charged for many, many years and are no 'secret before selling'
I am surprised there is no mention on payments being on hold for new sellers and sellers have have not sold anything for over a year?

So this would allow you, as many did before, to cheat ebay out of there fees. If everyone played by the rules, there would be no reason for ebay to constantly introduce new anti scam measures, be it to protect themselves or members.
The fee on postage that you find so disgraceful, has now been in place for many years and has the approval of the ACCC

Glad you worked it out, but in all sincerity, I hope your package to South America actually makes it. Unfortunately, many sellers won't sell there due to the number of items that go "missing", or become "damaged".
You are a fairly novice seller and it was an extremely expensive item you sold, so you needed to to get a Signature on Delivery - please tell me you got that?
Sorry, but my red flag meter is working overtime on this ๐ I think this transaction is heading for a dispute as soon as it gets to South America.
I would definitely NOT be shipping items worldwide as there are definitely issues with many countries which are not really considered "safe".

A $1400 item sold to a zero FB buyer in South America?
I see tears before long.

I've messaged them separately to say that we have concerns and to please return.
