Hi, I've finally sold an item after several months and it's my first sale with home collection. Problem is, the buyer does not seem polite! I told them I'd need their collection code, and I also told them how to find me but they have neither acknowledged or thanked me. I may as well have shouted into a black hole! I have anxiety (diagnosed), so this situation is particularly worrisome for me. Has any of you faced a similar situation? What do you advise I do here? Just chalk it up to a customer with poor comms, apparent lack of manners and push through with the sale regardless then block them from future purchases? Alternatively, perhaps I could just cancel the purchase and block them?

If the buyer hasn’t collected the item after 4 days, the option to cancel with the reason that the buyer didn’t pay will appear.
(If however you send the buyer a payment reminder, the 4-day period restarts - so don’t contact the buyer again.)
A cancellation with the non-payment reason will give the buyer an invisible strike. Two such strikes, and the buyer will find him/herself automatically blocked by any seller who had set their buyer requirements appropriately.
Block thereafter.

I'm sure the advice given will be the same everywhere but you've actually posted on the Australian boards,
not the UK boards

I blame Google search. It's a happy mistake though as I love Australia! I'm a big fan of Neighbours 🇦🇺❤️

I'm sure the British buyers are pretty much the same as ours.
In my experience, if someone purchases in any way (whether auction, buy it now etc), then ignores the seller's messages or does not pay, you can pretty much count on them having had a change of mind and they are going to slink away.
Yes, it is rude.
Just chalk it up to experience. Don't contact them again.
Just do as countess has advised and let 4 days go by and cancel with non payment as the reason.
As countess also said, ebay then gives them an invisible strike.
They will know ebay was aware, as they will probably get a message to the effect that they did not pay.
But I can't emphasise this enough: Give them that strike for non payment because if they continue with that sort of behaviour, it has consequences & you'll save some other sellers from having to put up with it.

Welcome to Australia.
Firstly it is my understanding - though have never done - home collection - the code is for the buyer to release on inspecting and agreeing to take the item.
The code is then shared - as proof of delivery.
Secondly - it is the weekend - both here and in the UK - the buyer has 4 days to pay.
I'd calm the farm - wait the 4 days - then if necessary go ahead with an unpaid item case.
