Forced to Set Buy It Now Price 30% Above Auction Start Price

I have a screenshot of eBay stopping me from relisting my items until I increase my Buy It Now Price to a set 30% above my normal auction start price. I have reported this to the ACCC. I feel like I am being blackmailed into collusion, predatory pricing and price fixing. My auction start price is already set as low as possible so now eBay is forcing me to rip off buyers by setting the Buy It Now price way above what I would normally charge. This needs to go on FB too. How many eBay sellers are now being forced to rip off their buyers??? I guess everyone doesn't bother with auctions any more? I guess eBay needs to lift their bottom line with everything sold at a premium retail type price? No announcement, no readily available information about this on their fee table. Something sure ain't right any more about this place, that I do know.

I know from the evidence in the emails sent to me from eBay. If it was not a clear report by a member, then eBay would have not reported me in the way they did. It was not automated. It referred to specific quotes and member names. It appeared to me like certain members may have direct links to eBay moderators. I thought it was nothing short of bullying on eBay's part due to the pathetic reasons.

YOU must've quoted members hence their ids would obviously be shown as part of the quote function.

As for members having direct links to the mods, yet another hysterical post by you tonight. You missed your calling in life-you should have been a commedian instead of complaining about ebay policies:^O:^O:^O

foxette-in-sox (Private) Well I'm happy to say that I just reported you for rude conduct. I think it's justified given you just followed me from another thread in which you had a most unhelpful thing to say. I dislike all forms of bullying. I thought forum posters also had to be an active seller on eBay. You're not selling anything and your feedback is also hidden which makes a mockery of what you sniped in the feedback thread.

weducational2 do you really think the following 2 posts about me would still be there if I or any other regulars had a direct line to the moderators? They will stay there because that is how most of us are about such insults.

Anyway, back to your original problem, I notice you have everything listed as a BIN/Best Offer, seems like a good way to get around the problem you were having with the 30%.

I think it was cheezy who also had a problem with the 30% so that is probably a good solution for them, too.

couple of things wrong there, firstly forum posting is open to ANYONE who has a registered ebay ID, be they sellers / buyers (like foxette), or just readers and responders to the forums, selling is not/ and never has been / a prerequisite.

many ebay buyers have (private) f/b for a number of reasons, including the fact that they dont want busy-bodies looking at what they buy.

as for reporters, I can tell you that there are many ebay users who just troll these boards looking for posts to report, and no-one, not even the ebayers who use the forums the most, has any links/direct lines/ or connections to the moderators, who are all overseas by the way, not in Aust.

Fox I think "sniped" might have been used correctly in the post by weducational2, it isn't just an "ebay" word. It did exist before ebay to describe the manner in which someone might speak.

snipe : make a sly or petty verbal attack.

That came out all wrong, I don't mean you were sniping in your comments because I haven't read them, I just meant that the word was used correctly regarding its meaning.

i-once-was-bump(Private) - I don't know what you're on about. i mentioned no one by name. If you've put 2 and 2 together and come up with 3 then it's something out of my control as I'm not really interested in trawling back over every post in this thread to double check. Suffice to say what I've said already, without naming anyone but stating the facts.

Thank you for confirming the solution re - applying Best offer but unfortunately that was a solution that had to be worked through. eBay should have provided it as a solution. All they've done is introduce massive systemic structural changes with out foresight, pro-active solutions or training for their Help personnel that has resulted in a lot of heartache and, from what i can see, very few auctions but very high prices.

Disputing the 30% rule is not a cheezy response. I stand by every thing I have already stated about it. I veramently dislike price fixing, feelings of blackmail and powerlessness. To think that eBay believes sellers can automatically apply a blanket 30% margin is totally bizarre and, as far as I'm concerned, in breach of the Consumer Act.

Foxy has been selling for many years and has another ID with thousands of FB.  Just because she tells you in a factual way how things are does not mean she is bullying you.  By the way, regular posters do generally have better things to do than reporting posts.  We all have our posts removed; as Foxy said, most likely by trolls and often for no other reason than that the trolls take dislike to you.  When we used to post with our selling IDs the trolls then attacked our auctions, that is why most of the long term posters have posting ID.
