Hi all,
Just wondering if you can help on this? Had a buyer who bought an item which has now been returned to sender 'as incorrect address' on tracking? Buyer states this was Australai Post's fault as its the corrct address. The item is now at my local PO and i will collect tomorrow and open in the presence of AP staff just in case of course. The buyer messaged and is happy to be refunded for the item when I receive, however this is the second time he has messed me about (i should have placed on BBL straight away but gave the benefit of the doubt-i have subsequently done this) and I may yet incur the AP return postage fee. I am wondering as it will be my first experience of this how I do a refund taking of the postage fees, and also wondering about how handling fees work? Does an handling fee have to be including in the listing to be able to charge this? And what is the process for refunding minus postage costs etc?
Thanks guys

All depends on what AP are prepared to do once they see the correct address is on the item.
Take a copy of the shipping address on the PayPal notification.
Personally I would ask AP for the postal refund as the buyer no longer wants the item then refund item plus postage.
(provided it was an AP fault)
Handling costs need to be shown in the listing prior to purchase.
It will show as one total, inclusive in the postage cost.
Don't forget to add them to the BBL.

I would refund via paypal, of you want to exclude postage from it.

If there is no problem with the address, then I would contact AP help centre and seek a refund on the postage costs. I hade a item "returned to sender" today with the "Insufficient Address" ticked as the reason. I confirmed with the buyer that there was no problem with the address. I rang AP and they agreed that the address was complete so they are sending me an equivalent pre-paid sachel.

Thanks Kopes, actually the buyer does still want the item, however this is the second item I have sent to this buyer. The first item he messed AP around sending it to different PO''s and then the item was lost? He refused the item at one point along the tracking but then must have changed his mind again as it was then sent to another PO again, and then got lost. I refunded and luckily had insurance on the item and then before i could block the buyer he bought anither of the same item and then changed address to a parcel collect which appears to be incorrect? So I am reluctant to send again but want to know how best to refund minus the postage costs as I would prefer to not have to send again?

Good point, I will call AP and see if the address is actually correct or not.
