Has anyone noticed that ebay started to charge 10% final value fee on postage, this is ridiculous!!!

Ebay is a blood sucker, charge heaps of money from seller, offers no protection to seller at all. Typical American monther **bleep**er company.

That's the thing, they come in here with guns blazing, because they haven't kept up with the changes. The other thing is, no-one anywhere in the world is forced to use eBay, so if it's that much of an issue for them, why do they keep using it? They speak like someone is holding a gun to their head to use eBay, then it's all eVay's fault when something goes wrong (for them).

Who do you mean by "they" - the boards are for everyone, not just a select self important few.

OP - just to clarify .....

1. eBay is most certainly not American

2. The fvf on postage was widely documeted and talked about for months prior to it's inception

3. Aus have quite a few 'competitor' sites to eBay (gumtree, quick sales)  unfortunately non of them have the traffic that eBay has....

greencat - widely talked about by whom, boardies ?? lol

I have spoken to several people who casually sell on eBay from time to time, and they have no idea of the changes, as they only sell from time to time.

BTW eBay is an American company, its headquarters are located in California, and its bank accounts in Switzerland for obvious reasons.

gumtree is part of ebay group, just like paypal. not sure about quick sale.

agree no one else has the traffic like ebay.

that's why I say ebay is a monopoly (almost), would like to see Yahoo launch its online trading platform in Australia (hopefully).

If I never bought a stamp for a letter in 2 or so years, then needed to, so went into the post office to buy a stamp and found out the cost of a stamp is 70c instead of 45c I paid last time... is it the PO Office's fault I didn't know that? Having a little tanty at the counter about the cost of stamps wouldn't impress the staff or other customers and I would still have to hand over 70c if I wanted to post that letter.

have you ever complain anyone/business you do business with? you'll know how ebay works when you get scores as a seller.

my point here is ebay/paypal charge a lot from sellers but offer little protection to sellers. everytime the buyer had a problem payple would freeze my money straight away, but with non-paying-bidder, all i have to to get my FVF back. seller can't leave -ve feedback but buyer can do whatever they want, it is not fair. I admit that I don't have a choice but keep on using ebay, but i would like to see Yahoo launch its online auction site in Aust.

I did use the bleeping word when mentioned America because I do have a opinion on that "bleep"ing country, just like many ppl have opinion on Russia, China, N Korea and the list goes on..., yes it is my personal problem, or maybe not, because many sellers won't be happy with it.

I nearly choked when I found out the current cost of a money order ($8.95). I remember them being $2.95, and thought they were a bit too steep at $4.95...

I don't blame AP for my not knowing until I did know, but I still feel ok about shaking my fist in their general direction and saying grumpy "back in my  / the good ol' day(s)" type things about it, and probably still would even if I had found out the second the price rose.

When you sign up for an ebay account one of the things you agree to is to read any updates in policies, terms and conditions. They are all clearly announced and if members fail to read them it is their own fault. Nothing about the fvf should have come as a surprise, it was announced way back in May.

If members are only occasional users then surely it is even more vital for them to read all the announcements since they last used ebay. I haven't sold since March but I still read all the announcements once a week.
