Having fees cancelled on compassionate grounds

My son used my account to sell a pokemon card.  I've never sold anything on ebay, and had no intention to ever sell on ebay.  My son, however, found a way, and now because I have no idea of the selling process I've somehow racked up a bill even though we didn't sell the card.  I want to appeal to someone within the ebay organisation to have this fee cancelled on the basis that I was unaware - and my son certainly unaware - of what he had done when he used my account to list the item.  Who on earth would I speak to?

Matt

You can try contacting customer service via live chat, but don't like your chances.

You are responsible for the security and operation of your account.  Has the buyer been refunded or are they still expecting to receive the  card.

Your scenario is a bit different to the toddlers accidenly buying Ferraris  etc

Just to add, how long ago was the item listed,  It appears the price was revised on 28/6/25

before selling on  10/8/25

Did the buyer pay    ...  or not ?

You could have cancelled the transaction  within 30 days and your final value fee would have been refunded.

If the buyer didn't pay,  eBay may  help you but no guarantees.

Click on Contact Us at the bottom of this link.

On the right hand side, you'll see the automated assistant.  Ask to speak to an agent or supervisor

Re: Having fees cancelled on compassionate grounds

Thank you Casey, your advice was the most helpful.  It just seems to be an organisation that runs without humans, or even the possibility of explaining my case to a human.  I don't really understand if the buyer paid or not, I think several people may have said they wanted it.  This issue has caused more stress to me than the amount owed is worth, maybe I just front up and pay and move on.  One thing's for sure, with all due respect to people who know how to work ebay, I'm getting off it.  Too many times I've bought and something else random turns up in the mail, and now this little hiccup that stupidly threatens my credit rating.  thank you again everyone. Matt

When what you get is not what was listed, all you need to do is open and follow through with an item not received dispute

Re: Having fees cancelled on compassionate grounds

Thanks Sandy, yes this is true.  I have previously followed through but to no resolution other than being offered a future discount on another purchase by the seller.   There must be honest sellers on this platform, but it also seems to be rife with pirates. Have a great day.

Sorry to hear that since that is not how item not described disputes usually work, if the proper process is followed

Would not an Item Not As Described be the better option?
