Hi There,
Like most seller I guess, I had to go and fix all my listings to meet ebays active content rules.
I fixed all of my listings and confirmed with the ebays active content checker and the isdntek active content checker that I no longer had any listings that did not comply.
I have been watching my sales drop over the past month or so and had been wondering why. Then I recently realised that most of my listings are not displaying the description any more, nearly all of them are displaying the "see full description" button.
I rang ebay and they tried to tell me that my listings were displaying correctly but so far I have contacted half a dozen family members and asked them to look and they also don`t see the listings, only the "see full description" button.
I was wondering if some people would be kind enough to look at some of my listings and tell me or send screenshots of what you see so that I can be sure before ringing ebay again.
Here are 3 listings
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122358986470
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122368192801
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/122569753653
Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot
Kevin.

I clicked on your ad & was just about to jump in to say I could not see any description when I noticed you said you have solved the issue. That's good.
Because I think you're 100% right about most customers not noticing any button that says 'See full description".
I certainly didn't.
I went back to the ad & spent a bit of time looking near the top for it and still couldn't see it, even when I knew from your post it had to be there somewhere.
Then I found it right down the bottom. If I had that experience knowing it was there, it's a fair bet most other people don't see it either as it isn't where you look for a description.
You say you have solved the problem. Maybe you haven't had time to change all your ads yet but I'm posting 2 hours later and there is still no description showing in the ad I looked at (air stones).
I think that was what annoyed me the most at first actually. Never heard of them & wanted to read how they worked or whether they needed hooking up to pumps etc-but could find no description!
Yep, costing you sales I would guess.

Your problem has absolutely nothing to do with active content. Non-secure content and active content are two completely separate issues. Anything with http links in the description will be non-secure and those listings usually have the "see full description" button. I suspect from what you've said that your extension (whatever that means) isn't working properly and that your http links are still in the listings.
When I click on my All Selling page (I don't use seller hub) it has all my recommendations up the top (photo recommendations, number of items ending that day, etc etc) and at the bottom of the list is the number of listings with non-secure http content in them. At the moment I don't have any showing because I've taken them all out but that's where it showed before. You might have a similar notification somewhere but it's NOT the active content that you showed in your screenshot - it's non-secure content.

Thanks for weighing in.
Actually when I say non-secure content I mean anything that does not comply with ebays policies. That is why in my first post I mentioned that I had checked with both the ebay content checker and the isdntek checker. The isdntek checker checks for everyting, bad links, non https, active content, the lot and then gives you an output of your listing with all of that fixed. I went thru every one of my listings and made sure they complied fully with ebays content regulations.
The issue is with the extension, I have since found that in the settings of the extension there are rules for the ebay site which can be turned off and on. I was able to still use the extension and see all my listings correctly once the extension was configured properly. It is a well known issue but it wasn`t until I went to email the developers to tell them about the issue that I discovered that they had already made a fix for it.
You can see from this screencap, that apart from a couple of listings that I restarted yesterday all of my listings comply fully with all content rules.

Hi there,
Yes I agree, it is hard to find. Ebay wants it to be that way as a way to ensure we comply I guess. And yes it has cost me sales, a lot.
Regarding whether I have fixed it yet. I am only able to fix it so that I can see it properly by configuring the extension that was causing the bug. I am 100% sure this was what was causing me to see the listings with the button instead of the description, but as for others I cannot be sure why.
If my theory is correct then others who are seeing the "see full description" button on my listings(excluding the air pump listing) must be using the same browser extension or another one that is causing the same issue.
I`d be interested to know are you using chrome browser, with the HTTPS EVERYWHERE browser extension or a browser extension that is similar?
Thanks a lot

Nicely spotted.
Actually that is an issue to do with a bug that has up to now not be able to be fixed. I am stuck in a catch 22 situation because my listing software ( inkfrog open ) and ebay are not communicating properly. My listing design templates are in inkfrog but with this particular listing, and one other, inkfrog will not allow me to revise from the inkfrog end meaning I cannot make the description appear.
I can fix it by restarting the listing but I will lose my ranking and sales history so I am reluctant to do this. For now I can adjust the quantity from the ebay end, but I need to recode my listing template to use the ebay editor and therefore make the description show. I have a new listing template that I am about to roll out so when I do so, I plan to fix bad listings like this one.
Thanks a lot,

Nothing has changed for me....I still see the button only and no description of any kind.
I am not a seller and am using Windows 8 and Firefox for ebay.
There would be a lot of buyers only who are using the same combination as I am.
Good luck with fixing it.

I clicked on the three most recent listings, and I see the descriptions.
I'm using Win10 and Edge
But.......you have an active content scroller. That needs to be removed.

No, not using chrome, just windows 10. I couldn't tell you about HTTPS as just knowing it is windows 10 is about as far as my computer expertise goes, sorry.
All the original 3 ad links still lack the description when i look but the "See full description' looks more prominant now & I wonder how I missed it first time around-maybe that's just because I know where it is now. I honestly just didn't see it for a while first time I looked.

I'm using chrome and 8.1 and I don't have any extensions.
I think only sellers would be using the extension you're talking about unless it's different to what I think it is. I don't really know what you're talking about but it does sound like something designed to convert http to https in listings, possibly connected to inkfrog that you use.
I doubt many computer users/buyers would add on something that converts http sites to https because most wouldn't have a clue about that sort of thing. Most of this is fairly knew and previously it was only pages where you signed in with a password that had an https URL (the s on the end denoting that it's a secure page).
I may be wrong but surely an extension for browsing couldn't turn an http site into an https one if the owners of the http site don't have the proper security certificates. Just changing a URL from http to https isn't going to magically turn something into a secure site if the necessary certificates aren't in place.

It is definitely not a Chrome issue.
Your listings have the button on both Chrome and Firefox. I have checked other peoples' listings on both and the descriptions are showing.
