Help please think I'm heading for an unhappy buyer :(

I have an auction finishing tomorrow night for a Garden Stool Wagon, a small plastic thing on wheels with a lift up lid. It's still in the shrink wrap but dusty so unused but not brand new looking. Anyway the retail new price is printed on the product label at $20 and tonight the wagon has been bid up to $20 already and about 16 watchers. Should I add a note to the listing? I'm worried about having a very disappointed buyer, I really thought we'd be lucky just to get one bid to sell for the start price $4.50 and just baffled by the interest. What is the right thing to do by the bidders here, I feel like I've really stuffed up here.

Some people simply shop on-line because they don't want to go to shops.

Or some may not know retail price but still feel it's a good buy.

Could also be it's out of stock in shops.

I wouldn't worry over something that may not exist yet.

Maybe remove the price sticker and at 20 they still get a good buy. 🙂

I understand your concern, but you seem to have described the item honestly, and it is new, just dusty!  The fact that you started low is a good sign.  You haven't done anything wrong, and if the bidders are happy to bid for that amount $20 or more then all the better for you!  

As long as you have described the item properly you have done the right thing and shouldn't worry.  But when the winning bidder comes to pick it up, you can always tell them to look over it carefully and make sure they are happy before they hand over the money.  I'm sure they will be!

Thanks guys the price isn't a separate sticker and is under the shrink wrap in any case. I'm relieved to have an objective view that the listing presents fairly but wishing surely there is something I could add to description to stop any more bids. I can't believe I'm actually wanting to stop bids one of my auctions!

You can end the listing early and sell to the highest bidder, providing there are more than 12 hours left to run, unless something has changed.

Okay well I'm thinking since it's cash on pickup then whoever wins if it goes for more than $20 I'll just say that's all they need to pay. But that isn't fair to other bidders is it. Crikey I do tend to worry about things that haven't happened yet 😮

Thanks Donna yes I had thought about ending early though have never done that before and if the current bidder thus winner backs out when I explain then no sale at all. That's why I was wondering about adding to the description with the retail price clearly stated? I guess I'm getting too caught up on a tiny 'pulled thread' in this rich tapestry of life.

did you know that the price is clearly visible on wagon if you use zoom? Don't stress,

people pay what they think an item is worth, let the auction run.
