Help please think I'm heading for an unhappy buyer :(

I have an auction finishing tomorrow night for a Garden Stool Wagon, a small plastic thing on wheels with a lift up lid. It's still in the shrink wrap but dusty so unused but not brand new looking. Anyway the retail new price is printed on the product label at $20 and tonight the wagon has been bid up to $20 already and about 16 watchers. Should I add a note to the listing? I'm worried about having a very disappointed buyer, I really thought we'd be lucky just to get one bid to sell for the start price $4.50 and just baffled by the interest. What is the right thing to do by the bidders here, I feel like I've really stuffed up here.

It is pick up only so if the buyer is not happy when they come they can just walk away without paying.

Don't stress...just let the auction run.

If I could pick it up I would be more than happy to pay more than $20, so your buyers might be too.

do you have something else you could give to the buyer when they pay?  A bit like a bonus?

I sold something many moons ago (stock from a shop that had closed) and it went for about $10 above its price tag, so I just chucked in a small bottle of amorall type stuff.

Like others have said, there are many reasons as to why it could of gone as high as it has.

Honestly, things are only worth what someone is willing to pay,  and if they choose to pay more than what is on the price tag or what you paid for it,  then its their choice,  same goes but in the opposite is when an item sells for a lot less than what you paid,  thats ebay, you sometimes get bargains, other times you may pay full price or more simply for the convenience, or maybe you hadn`t been able to find the item elsewhere.

If I wanted what you had, I might pay more because it is close to pick up, or cheaper in the long run than spending time and petrol searching from shop to shop,

if it really worries you just cut a small slit in the wrapper, scribble over the price with a texta and put some tape over the hole,  I very much doubt any buyer would care all that much, it certainly wouldn`t worry me, JMO ๐Ÿ™‚

What a great seller you are ๐Ÿ˜„

You have some good deals there  , sometimes people pay more for things they want and are happy to do so .

Maybe they are not available any more?  If somebody was looking for one and cannot find it they will bid whatever takes it.  I also remember many years ago, they were more like $50.

Thank you all ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm glad I came to the boards for help, if the winning bidder is anything like you guys then a happy outcome is very likely. Adding in a bonus is a good idea too! It's weird to think of this little wagon as a 'wanted' item, and that an ebay sale can still surprise me after all these years. btw it's up 50 cents to $20.50 now oh my.

I agree; the price is not an issue. It may not even be available where the buyer is, and the market detrmines the price. If you're worried about it being dusty, and can't clean it off before posting, just advise the buyer & ask if they'd like the shrink wrap removed.
