How are sellers able to sell Auspost prepaid satchels at what would seem to be a loss?

Having a look at the price of prepaid satchels on eBay this afternoon and noticed there are several sellers able to sell satchels for the same (or only slightly higher) than their retail price.

With postage to the customer as well as eBay fees, how would these sellers be making a profit or even breaking even? These are large sellers that consistently sell these items.

As an example there are several people selling small reg post prepaid sats at around the $93 mark per 10 pack including postage. As far as I can understand it the lowest retail on these is $90.07 per 10.

I was really just curious more than anything how this would be possible/profitable?

Loss leaders? Counterfeits? Maybe they buy their satchels in the thousands and get volume discount rates from AP.

Why do you care?

Your business model might not be the same as other sellers' business models.

I think if you buy 100 you get a further discount. The sellers could manage a Post Office and get them at cost. I can't really say quantitatively how they manage to profit (if indeed they do).

Join Australia Post Business & buy small 10packs of 10 = 100 = 1 carton.....cost $15, then check the postage rates on the Discount Band that suits you.

e.g. On Band 3:  cost of satchel $0.15 + postage to major city within Australia $7.81.  Total $7.96. ...say $8

To make the offer look more attractive to buyers, a seller might load the purchase price up by $4 & charge $4 postage, or similar.....maybe even load the purchase price by $8 & give Free Postage.  Result is the same as Ebay takes comm on total price.
