Hi
I can't have a local pick up with paypal payment, as there will be no proof that the buyer got his item. How do I correctly set up cash only payment.

This brings up memories of the pick up case where bidder claimed to be winner.
So bidder went and looked at item early on in auction.
Then another bidder was bidding against him and rather than inflate the price, the first bidder let the other win.
Then immediately went and picked up item paying exactly the winning price.
Next day the winner contacts to pick up item and seller thinks it's a joke but realizes later what has happened.
You may be right eezie, ID theft seems to be on the rise.

While it is often used as photo ID when signing contracts, applying for loans etc etc, all those businesses are required to comply with the privacy act 1988, including maintaining confidentiality of clients info and storage of confidential information.
The bloke down the road, selling a pick up only item... does not!
Your licence has not only your name, DOB, your address, but more importantly, your signature. All the info needed to create a new you and go on a spending spree with a new credit card in your name, and it would be very hard to find the source of the identety theft ground zero!
play it safe.... keep your D/L safe.
Nice story, Kopes..... tell us how it ended

You are absolutely correct jane and that is the difference.
A professional organisation that is trackable using your ID as opposed to anyone having access.
However if someone pays PayPal on a pick up item and I refund suggesting it is safer to view the item before paying cash for the buyer, then they choose and insist on PayPal again, I am going to ask for a licence before handing over the item.
Reason being, most people will listen to my suggestions and if not I become suspicious and feel the need to safeguard myself.
Especially as I sell items of higher values.
As for the true story, I think it was either the seller or the winning buyer that came here on the forums, needless to say there wasn't anything anyone could do. They were outplayed by the original bidder. And I think the winner was understanding enough to not leave bad feedback even though peeved at not getting the bargain they were entitled to.
