I have just posted my first ever item for asale on ebay and afterpay has come up as an option for payment. I casnnot find how to remove this. I do not want to accept afterpay.

You can't remove it, but it makes no difference to you, you will get the full amount of the sale as usual, it's the buyer who can pay by the 4 installments.

As Padi's already mentioned in the post above yours, you as the seller will receive one full payment as usual, not 4

For your future reference, bumping ancient threads is a sure way to get the thread locked by the next mod to come along. If you want to ask a question, you're better off starting a new thread for yourself.
Regarding your question, firstly, NEVER post anything before the buyer has paid, and ALWAYS post as soon as the buyer has paid - regardless of when you receive the funds into your bank account. In some instances, you may be required to post the item 30 days (or more) before the funds actually hit your account.
Secondly, four payments equates to four sales (one payment per sale). Why would you not want four sales? One would consider multiple sales a good thing, rather than something to be avoided.
I suggest you spend some time perusing the "Help" pages - especially topics which relate to "Selling*, " Shipping", " Payments" and " Payment holds".

The 4 payments do not equate to 4 sales - it equates to 1 sale - the buyer able to pay in 4 stages.
ie - 4 equal payments.

Both questions by low feedback sellers have been answered correctly.
This type of answer:
"Why would you not want four sales? One would consider multiple sales a good thing, rather than something to be avoided"
is NOT necessary
