I Have Been Wondering Why People Buy Unfranked Stamps At 85% To 90% Face Value

I Have Been Wondering Why People Buy Unfranked Stamps At 85% To 90% Face Value and then have to pay $1.50 To $1.99 Postage on top of the Buy Now Price. It is illegal to use these stamps. I buy new stamps with gum from a very reliable source for about 70% Face Value and on occasions I can purchase Complete Year Books at Auctions for about 30% face value. We are both pensioners and are allowed 50 consession stamps each at 60 cents each for the next 2 years or so. Why do people break the law in this matter? It is not worth it, this is a Federal offence and not taken lightly in the courts. The number of letters I receive through eBay is about 3 or 4 a month and 80% are reused stamps. If i think they are reused I place them in water for a little while and you can see the glue they were stuck on with. I don't like it especially when you are charge full postal costs. Love to hear comments.

I am not sure why anyone would I must admit I have bought a lot 100+ items sent via letter post from Aus sellers and I have not noticed any have been using reusable stamps (that is not to say they was not) to say 20-30 cents 40-60 for a large letter I really would not of thought it would be worth doing it would only take 1 being noticed by AusPost and you would more than likely be in trouble or at least have a very unhappy customer who would leave at least negative feedback.

Postage is paid by the buyer so as a seller it really does not make any difference to me. If I saved 20 cent the price would be cheaper but that would not increase sales at all so it would not benefit me. I think people who do things like use stamps they are not meant to be using only think short term and they may make a few dollars but they will never last long. Sellers trying to make a living or subsidce an income know the time wasting doing this is just not worth it.

If the stamps are unused then there is nothing stopping anyone using them.

A lot of people buy bulk stamps from whatever source at a discount price.  If you use a lot of stamps even a few cents savings can add up.

You mention that you are entiitled to Pensioner discount stamps....I hope you don't use them for ebay items.  I would call that dishonest and not what they are intended for.

They arent very smart if they are. Stamps are available  at 50% face value for mint stamps in sheets, booklets and albums from any number of sources. Those paying more are usually just buying from a reseller who has paid 50%.

Yes Lyndal we use our Pensioner Disount Stamps for Postage from sales on eBay. We are both well in our 60's have paid out taxes for almost 50 years. How it that Dishonest there is no where that states we cannot use them for postage of items we sell on eBay but the law does state that once a postage stamp has been used it cannot be used again and people are buying them from the anount of listings that are listed on eBay. We are not large sellers maybe if we are lucky $100 per month. and it is declared to Social Security. all I am asking Why risk using stamps that have been used and end up with a huge fine or even jail. I received a large letter today $3.00 Postage we paid $3.50 Postage. The higest value of the stamps on the letter was 47 cents. I soaked the stamps in water and everyone was glued on with a red glue. Now this is what I call DISHONES. Not The Pensioner Discount Stamps. Do A search for 381531593382 now that is Dishonest and we could purchase these legally for $60.00

Yes I know Stawks, but if someone wants to be holier than thou about sources of cheap stamps then they need to be squeaky clean themselves.

Well I can trump you on age....I am 70 and my OH is 73 and we are both still paying tax so pensioners can get their cheap stamps. I have paid tax for over 50 years.

Why do you want to use your cheap stamps for ebay purchases when it is the buyer who pays the postage...that is a rort as far as I am concerned.

I prefer to buy stamps with glue on them rather than the self sticking ones.....several times over the years I have had them with insufficient glue and they don't stick.  When I asked at the PO I was told to just glue them on.

Not everyone is breaking the law by using glue to stick stamps on.

There is a big difference between a pensioner using the discount stamps they are entitled to and people reusing stamps. You really confuse me 1 minute you defending AusPost and next you are saying it is OK to rip them off. To me people should pay for a service they use not try to get around paying for it. I am not sure what the law is but I can not see it being legal to reuse stamps

But just because people use glue to attach stamps it does not necessarily mean that there is anything wrong with it.

Did you read my comment that I was told by the PO to use glue on the stamps that I bought that did not have sufficient glue to stick on the envelopes?

I also have a large stamp collection that I inherited.  I have no interest in them so often use stamps from the collection on mail.  Again the glue has deteriorated so I have to use new glue....there is nothing illegal at all.

Your buyers are paying you to post their items.  How do you know that they are all pensioners and entitled to the cheap postage stamps?   Your buyers are getting what YOU are entitled to, whether they are entitled to it or not.
