I can see as my items are sold ebay add the fvf. As I sell a lot of items and combine the postage for multiple buys I am worried about how this is charged. Why am I charged fees before I send invoices ? how do ebay know how much postage I am charging ?. Am I been charged postage on each little item when i actually rarely sell just one of my item to the same buyer. I hope this makes sense to you. Thank you in advance 🙂

I thought the fees would be charged either when the buyer actually paid , or when I sent a final invoice. This is so confusing

Ring ebay and explain that you sent the buyer a combined invoice, which shows the correct postage. They may back down and refund the excess FVF as happened last month for me.

I have found that eBay charge fvf on shipping, by charging an equal portion of the combined postage to each item.

Hi,
I was so fed up with this new postage policy, combining invoices, EBay overcharging FVF, etc I offerred
FREE POSTAGE WORLD WIDE. Hers how I did it.
First I sell Stamp Albums on CD so I post out a CD in a padded bag $1.40 to Australia, $2.60 (now $2.75) to Europe and USA)
I totalled up my sales, worked out the amount of postage, averaged the amount of postage acoss all items, increased my selling price by this amount, re-worked my profit margin to get a final selling price.
No discounts on postage if buying more than one - its already "free"
Sales went up, problems went down.

Yes, but they sometimes get me totally confused when I try to reconcile my sales reports by not dividing that FVF equally between all items sent together. I had one sale in Sep where the buyer purchased 5 items for a total postage cost of $13.50. The postage charges allocated to the five items were $0.00, $6.23, $1.73, $5.54 and $0.00. The middle three items were all sold for $10 each, so it's certainly wasn't proportionally divided according to item cost.

Easy to do if all your items fall into more or less the same category, and can be posted for a smallish postage cost. Not so easy for sellers with a wide range of items.

shouldn't your ebay fee be dropped by the appropriate amount you refund your buyer after combining the multiple sales?
ie: 4 x DVD's combined into a satchel and give your buyer a refund for combining the post totalling $8 therefore you should be reimbursed the fees on the $8 you refund to your buyer.
