I asked Ebay what new changes have damaged my sales...and they responded...

I just opened a chat with an Ebay representative and asked them "what changes have recently been made that has seen my sales drop by 95-100% this month?" I received the following response

Jean Su. "We have done nothing to destroy any seller's account. It is up to the buyers to buy items and some items are seasonal. Also, there are many sellers nowadays that the competition is very stiff."

....I then mentioned that the drop in sales happened instantly which is neither seasonal nor due to competition being "very stiff" and the response I received was ...dead silence... It appears that rather than tell the truth o a lie Ebay will just go silent and wait for you to go away. So after years of advertising and telling us all to build our own Ebay business and encouraging us to rely on it for our living this is the response we get when they decide we are no longer of any use. I would have some more to say but i have already received 4 warnings from the Ebay moderation team today for speaking out of line. I guess they will shortly send me another dozen or so.....because i know I have been speaking my mind a lot lately. Shame on me.

possibly what eBay is telling us: ( joke but me thinks I might be on the right track)

  • eBay will soon be changing its name to eBay Asia

  • you can only list if you live in Asia and sell cheap goods

  • Sales have stopped because of the above

  • our search results support Asia only

  • the $1.50 hike in listing price is to stop you from listing

yeah,I once was whatever should apologise.

I think you might mean me but not 100% sure.

If for just one nano second I was sorry how would an apology do anything.

I can write an apology in the next post but so what, do I mean I am sorry or am I just making you happy?

I have frequently apologised on these forums for mistakes I have made so I would like to keep my apologies to when I actually am sorry and therefore the apology is genuine.

So "whatever" will not be apologising for posts on this thread.

Whats the go with limiting the listings I can have in a particular category...they promote u building up your business then hit u with this SLEDGEHAMMER to put u back in your place !!! ? I've just signed up for the basic business package where  they proudly pronounced 100 free listings per month (I have only 42) BANG SLEDGEHAMMER NO YOU CANT LIST ANYMORE - WHAT A BIZARRE SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES

The system message starts with "In order to help maintain a safe trading environment..." NOW in my mind that is them somehow deducing that I"M "UNSAFE" in someway...a "RISK" to whom ...? been a member for a long time & have only one negative feedback to a person who didn't want a full refund on an item( a 5 dollar item!?) lost in the mail but preferred to leave NEG FBack??? , that,  in my lowly opinion should be removed...but ebay wont???

PLUS to add insult to injury THEY WONT EVEN LET ME REVISE THE ITEMS I HAVE LISTED ALREADY...same system message about "LIMITS"  then somebody from ebay customer support says things like ;

we wont increase your limits because;

-- Very limited selling history at this time of review
-- Detailed Seller Ratings of below 4.80
-- Positive feedback percentage of below 98%

need to build up a positive selling history????

What a CROCK ?

I think the worst part of this unsavoury experience is that somehow this is an issue about "TRUST & SAFETY"  Can someone explain this?

That is what the problem is and apparently ebay are going to restrict you until those things improve. Your feedback percentage won't return to 100% until 12 months after the negative feedback was given to you.

But a couple of positives will drag up the % and probably the DSRs. They're coming off a low base (10 and 11) so a couple should be enough.

Your FB score is bad because of you obviously did not deal very well with the lost item.  Unless you refunded the buyer without them having to open a PP dispute, the NEG was very well deserved.
