I got scammed and eBayer couldn't be any less helpful.

Sold something to someone in France, they said they didn't get it. Both my local and their local postal service said it was delivered. I provide proof to eBay they settle the case in my favour, and a day later I'm told it's been appealed and I've lost. I had proof it was delivered from two different carriers and that was still not good enough.

And the best thing is they have 2 feedback 1 of which says the person is a scammer and I'm pushing 2000 positive feedback.

I can't even get a response from eBay now. Just pathetic, I'm nuking my account when everything is settled with other auctions.

That does sound extremely unfair.

Are you able to appeal it at all?

I have no idea why ebay would settle in a buyer's favour when you had proof of delivery, I didn't think that normally happened.

I am no longer an ebay seller, have not been for many years, and I don't know what you sold or how much it cost.

I do know that if I were still selling, I'd be very wary of overseas sales, especially if it happened to be anything expensive.

You say the buyer has only 2 feedback, one of which says they are a scammer. It is a pity you did not cancel the sale, although a seller cannot be expected to check out the feedback of every buyer. For any bigger overseas sale though, I think it would be a good idea.

Ebay does not seem to take the slightest bit of notice though of feedback. It's a great little guide for buyers (if they bother to use it) but quite honestly, on this forum over the years we have seen sellers with feedback down around 17% and still operating (that was recently), we have seen buyers who seem to have given dozens upon dozens of negatives & achieved partial or full refunds over and over without penalty.

It's not a completely safe platform.

You may be able to do okay on marketplace in their special categories or depending on what you are selling, on other auction sites or in special facebook groups for particular brands etc.

But in the meantime, maybe keep trying to contact ebay about this transaction. I think someone said they have an instagram account, you may do better outlining your issue on that. Good luck.

Re: I got scammed and eBayer couldn't be any less helpful.

So someone gave a scammer positive feedback

AND breached eBay rules (putting their own account at risk for giving a 'false positive')

No wonder this scammer did it again, they saw they can scam, get a big green tick for scamming and on they go

Pointless when nobody else even knows who the scammer is the green tick was left for

Yes it is pathetic of eBay

Even more pathetic someone who was scammed is rewarding and encouraging that behaviour

Well you should protest eBay by helping us protest the nuking of WANT IT NOW. It would solve availability problems for buyers and both sellers and buyers would benefit from the results

Want it now has not been a thing in many, many years

Do you mean buy it now?

How would that solve the issue of scammer buyers opening false claims and lying through their teeth exactly?

We are not talking about an availability problem, we are talking about a scammer buyer, lying the item was not delivered

Have you 'protested' (being aware eBay do not take suggestions/requests

Any reason to mention this on the member forum for eBay Australia?

Did you post the same thing on eBay USA ?
