Hi all, recently sold a set of bunk beds and arranged with the buyer that I would leave it out for them (on Wed afternoon) because I would not be home at the time they wanted to pick up due to other commitments with my children. Now she is saying that she didn't pick it up and wants a refund and if no refund will come here on Sat to pick up?? I don't know what to do? Please help!

I think you are being conned, They would have had to know and have a suitable vehical to pick it up. Did you ask your neighboroughs did they see anyone picking them up. I would get the police to go to their house to check.

if the general consensus is that the buyer did actually pick up the item and is trying to pull a swifty . . . . . . then I think you are very lucky. Very lucky because if they are dishonest enough to do this then think of what more they could have done knowing that you would not be home at the time they wanted to pick up due to other commitments with your children !!!!!
You could have got home to a near empty house.
Talk about how not to organise a pickup item, considering that they now know where you live and that you have Wednesday commitments with your children!

but they do have some very large puppies Sir Sales, which may prevent anyone from entering the house......
but yes, very valid points, strangers knowing when you're not home.... yikes.

My email to buyer this morning:
Hi aaliyah2297,
I cannot understand what has happened here. After receiving a phone call from you on Saturday 26.10.13, it was arranged between both of us that you would pick the bunks up on Wed 30.10.13 around 4pm. I advised you that I would leave them out for you as I would not be home at the time and you agreed to that. The only option I see remaining here is to report the matter to the police if they were not picked up by you at the time agreed upon. Essentially, as you had paid for the bunks they were under your ownership and stolen from my property. Please let me know when you report them as stolen and advise me of the Police Report number.
I cannot offer anymore than that, had the bunks have been picked up within the 3 days from the listing ending, either by yourself or a courier (as stated in the terms of the listing) then we would not have to deal with this current situation as I had someone who would have been present at the time of pickup. Thank you, dandj30

I've had people pick up things before with no problem whatsoever, first time I have encountered anything like this. Buyer paid by paypal but is insisting she didn't pick it up. It wasn't outside that long and it could not be seen from the road so only the buyer would have known it was there waiting to be picked up at a certain time....
I think this means you are ok, cos PayPal don't cover pick ups.
BUT - how does all the credit card chargeback thingy go?
if their paypal is funded by credit card, can they now do a chargeback through the bank?
