Image Quality

Hi There

Need some help please!

Have notice a clear decline in the quality of my listing images in the open search area and have also notice that other sellers listing images have improved out of sight.

This is only a very recent issue. As always I scan single stamps at at 600dpi and larger mini sheet type images at 400dpi.

Does anybody know what loading image size is prefered by eBay as a listing image?

Does anyone have an idea what is going on?

Always Happy Stamping.

There's info in the Seller Centre about taking pics and the new picture requirements.

Thank you very much for the reply and the link sportandplay.

Looks like I am well within the image criteria.

In my store the images are fine.

There is a clear difference between the haves and have nots. I am not the only one with this image issue in the main search area.

Very Interesting. kg5

Have you noticed a change with all of your pics?

I've just clicked on one of your listings and in the search the gallery pic is visible but in the listing it came up with Image not Available.

This is what I see when I click on your Dame Joan listing.

I have actually noticed some of my gallery images seem more compressed than they used to be, resulting in some blurriness. Others are still clear and crisp, and I always upload 1000 x 1000 pixel images, so I haven't quite worked out what the issue is just yet - I've been compressing some of my images before upload (ebay will do it automatically on some images, especially hi-res images that take a lot of memory, despite their large image recommendations), but at the moment it's still trial and error, without a clear indication of why some look fine and others don't. Smiley Frustrated

Perhaps you could try manually re-sizing (scaling) the pictures to the size you require before uploading to ebay. I make mine 700 x 700 - haven't been to see if they are all OK yet. Maybe worth a try.

I've never used a gallery image bigger than 1300 on the longest side and they all seem to work okay.

Two Replies from elsewhere.

1. I think they were over contrasted in Picasa3 or something similar.

2. I have noticed that some are really super over saturated images and they make me a little leary.

Those strong images are really starting to upset my likeing to choose them to look at as a buyer!

I now refuse to look at anything behind those false looking images. My choice!

There has always been a huge image loading difference when listing between a scanner image and a camera image.

Thanks for the heads up on the missing image. Tried to reply but got an issue this end which is now fixed.
