The invoice I was copied on has added an additional charge to an overseas buyer that was not on the invoice I created. It is not itemised and it is not shipping as I offered free shipping. What is this? It was approximately 7-8% above the selling price. Never seen before. Thanks

GST/VAT/State Taxes.
You will be charged fees on the total transaction amount, including those charges.
Food for thought.
There's not much available in Australia that isn't available in the buyer's country cheaper. Especially model cars.
Not to mention the risk of NAD claims.

Sales tax. It will be itemised in your transaction details.

While I tend to agree with your sentiments about the risk of selling OS I have had some very surprising results lately.
I basically removed OS postage from all of my listings when COVID hit. International postage prices took a big leap after COVID and I have only been allowing International postage on listings that are sure fire OS sales.
I listed six similar collectors items for auction a week ago, expecting them to sell in Australia. I tried international postage ( with tracking ) on them as an experiment. Sold four at auction, most with multiple bids and all to international clients. A couple sold well above my price expectation.
It shows there is still a place for auctions on ebay and international buyers are willing to pay VERY expensive postage to get their items.
As davewill964 suggests, not for the faint hearted though.

While the OP's question was about taxes applied to sales - nothing to do with ' very expensive postage ' - he/she did mention - free shipping.
Perhaps it will be a mind changer - when - if - an item not as described is opened - and you the seller are up for return postage - or buyer gets to keep the item and the refund.
Certainly not for the faint of heart.

A high feedback buyer who in the last 30 days, for the most part , bids on / buys vynil .
Possibly from around the world so may be used to an extra charge.
What is the buyer's "received": and "left for others" feedeback like ?
Hope all goes well for you in this transaction.
