How CAN you be sure that if you put the refunds through, that Paypal won't also decided to refund them?
Because if you refund, they will show as refunded, and that should be that. If you try to refund 2x, it would not be possible, I hope ๐

I received 4 payments for one item and 2 x payments for another. All showed in my paypal account. Have refunded all the overpayments successfully but one payment is being held and reviewed as 'unauthorised use of account'.
All we can do is keep the customers informed and NOT post anything until it's sorted.
Also same here for ebay Paid icon. I just get the Refund icon and won't change.

I have decided to be proactive and refund the buyers, I have found that the most recent transaction is the one that went through, as I have posted the items and it is showing in paypal as sent, whilst the others transactions are showing waiting to be shipped. The refunds have gone through and I have been credited the paypal transaction fee

Just got an update from my customer who issued an'unauthorised transaction' case. Apparently she is new to ebay and thought this was the only way to get her overpayment back so I have refunded all her payments and suggested she try to pay again.
So some of you might find the same type of cases been opened as your customers start to panic about their money!

I dont like using paypal at all for reasons like this. Lst time this happened to me I was out of pocket of $3000 for months and had to go to FOS to get it refunded
I was charged twice for one item and three times for another item which i paid for last night through paypal. I have now been refunded by both sellers for these items
What makes it bad is that we now have to wait for up to 5 days for our funds to clear which were taken without our consent.
I have called paypal regarding both transactions and they are remaining quite humble about it. I have tried to find a memo on their website and on ebays but of course they dont want to release such a statement as it may tar the supposedly "safe way to pay" motto they have forced many to believe. That in itself is an absolute disgrace as there would be many unsuspecting buyers and sellers who have no idea about this mess who will be out of pocket in a big way.
After this debarcle, I wont be using paypal again. It is not safe at all.

At least with Paypal, you will get your money back.If you pay via bank deposit, you won't,so how are you going to pay for items on ebay ?

...at times like this I find it best to be proactive with the buyers and advise them of the situation.
At times like this keeping customers informed can be very helpful.
Out of the few things I bought over the weekend only one of my sellers was thoughtful enough to explain the issue to me, otherwise I wouldn't have known, and been in the same boat as many here.
I had one payment go through just fine (to the seller that emailed me), but the second errored out, though it said something about a problem processing the payment and I have not been charged. But, I'll leave it until tomorrow just in case I have.
I see Paypal have updated their website, the main page (dunno why, it was fine the way it was), maybe they're doing a big overhaul. Still, it would have been handy to have been notified. Hope it's all sorted soon.

Sellers couldn't see it on their end unless they looked for it!
In my case, a buyer told me they had paid 3 times. I checked eBay and saw there was only one paid item. I checked Paypal and found 3, all with unique IDs. However, only one of those IDs showed up on eBay.
If my buyer hadn't let me know, I would be none the wiser.
On the other hand, I have now refunded 2 of the payment. Other sellers are reporting that Paypal has refunded for them. Now I'm worried that Paypal will also refund and then I'll have no payment for the item posted today.
Not a happy seller X-(
