Very Common trick on ebay...
LAW
"Yes, it can be illegal to advertise a product as "postage free" and then charge for postage. This is because it is considered misleading or deceptive conduct under Australian consumer law. Businesses must clearly and accurately display the total price, including all unavoidable or pre-selected fees like postage".
More on the internet.
Illegal accepted practice on eBay and sick of it!

It's a known problem if you use the app, it will show "free postage" but when you go to "checkout" the correct postage will be shown.

Have you reported this illegal activity to the police?
Members here are aware that it is a known issue when using the app
Or if the seller is registered overseas and the 'free' postage is within their country only
Or if the seller has a postage and a free local pick up option
Or if the listing stated freight and to contact seller for postage cost
You will also have noticed that big banner when you went to post saying do not give out personal information and yet you yell your full name at other members
And if the seller is registered overseas 'Australian consumer law' (done to death) does not apply

I wouldn't say it is a 'very common' trick on ebay at all.
Mind you, when I do buy on ebay, I am on a computer and not a phone, so i don't run into any glitches.
Sandy has listed some of the reasons you might be running into problems but I have to say, in my 20+ years on ebay, I have never struck a purchase that is listed as free postage where I have been asked to pay.

Oh no, Not the red crayon.
Any error in the listing, postage etc, the seller is entitled to cancel the transaction
