I sold an item 2 days ago and buyer still hasn't paid and hasn't replied to my emails. Buyer sent a message (within 20 min of buying) saying they were worried about my very limited feedback and asking why. Sellers have to start somewhere, right? Plus, my feedaback is all positive. If they were worried, why did they buy???? Slightly irritated as I'm wondering if this buyer is going to pay at all or if it's someone who setup an account just to cause issues (pessimist in me).
I know I have to wait another couple of days before opening a case (which I will do if necessary).
Just wondering if anyone has seen a buyer with zero feedback cause issues in a similar situation.

Unfortunately you cannot control how buyers behave, if they have still not paid in a few days open an unpaid item case. There isnt much else you can do but relist the item as soon as the case is closed.
Ebay cannot do much about this either, my best advise is try not to take it on board too much or let it frustrate you because there are plenty of legitimate lovely buyers out there too, dont let this throw you off.
Some people commit to buy in the moment and then rethink the purchase later, frustrating I know but it happens alot, especially if they are new to Ebay. Perhaps review your seller preferences in your my account page and block buyers who have more than 2 unpaid item strikes in a month, this will filter out some of the time wasters 😄

Good advice.
Nutri-herb, I did have to smile at the thought of a person with a zero rating saying they were worried about your low feedback.
You should have told them that it's just as big a worry for sellers when low rating buyers bid, but everyone has to start somewhere,as you said.
My guess is they're scared of paying, they don't really understand how it all works and don't want to risk their money. Why they bid in the first place, I don't know, as they were probably feeling a bit iffy then.
Put in your dispute asap.

I'm getting quite a few newbies buying.
I have in my listings 2 days for contact & 5 days for payment, but some of the newbies especially are paying at the 5 day mark & afterward with no contact.
After 2 days I usually send a query whether they require a 2nd invoice, 3rd day I ask eBay for contact details (which sometimes works). After the 5th day I write & tell them they are in breach of the Terms of Sale. If after 7 days there's been no contact I would go to Unpaid Item dispute (haven't had to do that lately).
There's definitely the same problem on other online auction sites.

Is it odd? NO
Is it a bit unsettling? Yes.
You know what to do, and you know when to do it if you believe or they otherwise indicate that they may not pay, that's the most comfort that I can offer unfortunately.

If you are concered about low feedback buyers then put in place the blocks to stop low feedback buyers that are not verified from buying from you.
To put these blocks in place hover your mouse over account in your my eBay page and from the drop down click on Site Preferences then go down the list till you see Buyer requirements and to the right of that click on show then click on edit. From there you can put in place the blocks you want, to stop those you want to block from purchasing from you.

First off I can never understand why sellers request contact within any number of days, there is no ebay rule that demands contact. Buyers have a maximum of 8 days to make payingment also. If they are a nervous newbie do some hand holding. Explain to them that if they pay using Paypal they will have no difficulty getting their money back if there is anything wrong even if you refused to help which would not be the case. If they still haven't paid 48 hours after that then as long as the minimum 4 days have passed just open an unpaid item dispute.
