I received a message from a buyer:
Where are you located I'll offer $100 for the bike
Item number is : 331496379919
I will let you make up your own mind!
I have not responded and will not respond to this message!

If it was me, I'd accept the $100 offer,(if that's acceptable), and arrange to meet them for pickup in a neutral situation, like a service station or McDonalds carpark - if you are worried. I'd also be checking out their feedback.
Not all buyers are dodgy, but I'd be wary - it doesn't look to be worth $100!
Still, one man's junk is another man's treasure...

The person can buy it at $40. Why offer $100. If you accept the $100, there is no trace of the person identity, address and so forth.
I also have the location in the description.
Alarm bells are ringing!

early BMX are quite collectable at the moment
If I was you I would end the listing because you had made a listing error
and re- list the bike auction style and start it at $100.00
then if the buyer is serious they can bid on it , if they get outbid and dont win all the better for you because you have made an extra $60
if they are not serious you can just relist later at a lower price

this chap could be thinking its a auction and its starting at $40 and has made a reasonable offer

So, it looks like I'm being paranoid.
The person has 5 feed back rating, 4 of them are good, and one says: Do not deal with this seller!

hi i dont know what you are worried about why would somebody mention a neatral location on your site you do lots of pick up article whats te difference from this chap ,as for alarmm bells i have my location in 500 listings and i still get asked for my location everyday of the week ,a lot of people dont read discription section , but i think he thinks its a starting auction price at $40

It's automatic - if somebody offers way over the price they are a scammer. Full stop.
Would probably say they are paying you via Paypal, then they'll add a bit so YOU can pay their agent cash for the freight part when it's collected, then send you a fake Paypal email saying they've paid (assuming the ocassional seller will not check their Paypal account directly).
Block them and do not reply.

I reckon you've done the right thing also by blocking them. A potential buyer offering to pay $100 for a $40 buy it now sounds very fishy to me.
