Buyer meassages me about wanting to return an item. Not a fault just doesn't suit. I go to cancellation process and select buyer wishes to cancel. From here continue button gives one option only to refund buyer, there is no approve a return, or send address any more. ie you can't request item returned within seller instigated cancellation process.
Only way I can see of doing this is messaging buyer direct returns detail and approval, then processing return refund process once recieved. This may leave them feeling you haven't officailly approved return.
Other way is to ask them to instigate return preocess and hope they dont choose wrong option.

Or get them to send it back and then do a refund via paypal.
Sure u may not get the final sale credit from the reversed sale but
the seller pays the postage so pretty same as U paying
return postage and getting a sale credit.
more or less.
Have done two this way last year for largish items and have another
just now for a bent on receipt of product for a
digging tool...or damaged in transit better describes it.
Might look into an insurance claim or just
sraighten it once its returned.

Once they have sent it back cancellation is not a problem. Problem is some buyers wont send things back until the get official ebay message to say return accepted. So to them they think that we have not officailly accepted return>>creates confusion and suspicion.
Priniple here is once you have sent something a seller cant officially initiate a cancellation, without writing the item off. I guess this is to push buyers back into the returns process and discourage direct communicatiion with sellers to negotiate a solution.
