Hi all. Question. Someone just bought a guitar of me, and now not even 24hrs later sends me a message asking to return it because he doesn't know how to tune the guitar properly! Am I in my right to say no? And if I do say no, it would mean he could leave me a bad rating.
What should I do?

The guy did say he was going to take it to "His Guitar Tech" to get checked out!
The guy said he had a couple of guitars and small amp and plays in his spare time. I've been play guitar for 20 years and have professional gear, and i don't have a "guitar tech".. idiot!

Your buyer is doing the right thing.
A genuine Guitar Technician has usually done several years apprentice under a Guitar Maker, if qualified, would be able to fix and make guitars themselves.
They usually have the ability to fix, maintain, customize, service and value guitars. Who do you think customizes and makes guitars for the worlds International "Rock Gods"! or local ones.:-D
In 20 years you haven't used a guitar tech? How could you not know about Guitar Techs?
Any way, this is good for you! Once the guitar is adjusted, customized tampered with etc....it is no longer in the condition that you sold it to him in......and yes... definitely no refund.
The guitar tech might just sell him an electronic tuner! :-):-D

I now take back any suggestion that you refund anything, and I would have refunded less al fees only, as they are a twonk, ebay will not do anything and just reply to the dispute saying it was a pick up item inspected before being accepted.
Send them one last email telling them that there is absolutely no buyer protection for pick up items and you don't care how many opinions they get under Australian consumer law anything purchased second hand from a private seller is sold as is so they had better learn how to tune it or use it as a doorstop as it is not your problem.

I know about guitar techs, and I know and then will take some of my more expensive guitars to be looked over, adjusted, done up etc. But I don't have my own person guitar tech.
I did get a response from ebay asking them about what is going on, they did say to try and sort it out, and If he does lodge a disputes you just have to give your side of the story etc.
And then stated
"You are not obliged to provide refund unless found after the dispute process to be necessary"
So we will wait and see what happens. As I've said I never had an issue with the guitar, he takes it home, 7:30 in the morning sends me a msg asking for a refund because it's "impossible" to keep in tune! I don't know what he's done to it, I could have accepted the refund/return and get it back and he's done something to it and I can't sell it.

I could have a guess at what a Twonk is, but I'd probably get slapped for it ๐
