Item posted then tracked to recipient's work address, buyer claims no show

Hi some ideas / advice from other sellers please, this has not happened to us before. We posted an item with tracking to the seller's address (his workplace) as shown on ebay. He claims not to have it , even though he saw the tracking steps showed it HAD BEEN delivered to his workplace.

We also checked the tracking steps via Aust Post website and according to the final step it WAS delivered to his workplace.

So, as far as we are concerned, we have followed correct procedure, as has Aust Post; is there any requirement of us to reimburse him for a parcel which appears to have 'disappeared' once it reached his workplace?

I took the advice of kopenhagen 5 and emailed buyer requesting he follow up on who in the workplace is responsible for the receiving of all postage and suggested he contact his local PO which delivers to his workplace, two excellent suggestions I thought, thanks K5. I have not heard anything back as yet.

One thing I have learnt from this is that it appears I must check both ebay invoice address AND paypal payment address; I have never checked seller's paypal address!! only posted to the ebay address unless otherwise advised directly by the buyer... luckily I have never had an issue arise because of this!

(and this particular buyer's ebay and PP posting address is the same)

i have posted items other then the buyers address on request (for gift purposes so the buyers items goes straight to the address of the giftee <---is that a word?

only under standard postage though where i wouldnt be covered by PP protection anyhow and for cheaper items incase of chargeback i wouldnt care, never had any problems with it and the buyers were gratefull.

but i would never do it for expensive items with trackable postage where i wanna cover my arrrrrs, yep i have made it a habit of checking their PP address for posting too....regardless off wanting to be covered or not....i found theyre all the same addy as their ebay ones so far.

@littlefrench, well you obviously didnt read properly now did you. I said using a spy or miniture camera where you as a customer would not even be aware it was happening and seeing how you que way back from the person being served it would be none of your business.

Not to mention as a business its classed as a open house and as long as you do not disclose the persons face in public it is totally legal.

And my PO is rarely busy and only at certain times morning and late afternoon and sometimes around midday. And seeing im a stone throw from it I can choose when to lodge and do it when its quite which is quite a bit of the time.

And after asking my PM if it would be Ok she didnt seem to mind at all as to make the filming legal you MUST disclose that you are filming and you must film the entire process start to finish to beable to use it in court which I would if nessasary.

And you did not address the question but just showed what sellers really are again.

The question is why is this form of posting not accepted buy PP when it would be considered posted buy any judge in the country. Its a bit hard to say something wasnt posted to a certain address when its clearly filmed regardless whats in the package there was a package sent to that address which would be totally undeniable.

The reason your not answering it is simple its so comprehensively correct it is impossible to argue anything else. There would be no way to argue it was not posted.

And I believe PP would lose in such a case. I would have no problem taking PP to small claims court and make them pay my legal bills. As theres no way with that sort of evidence could be disputed and Im totally sure when PP came to push being shoved they would not take it to court it would not be in there best interest on such a issue once they had seen the evidence and would have no choice but to accept it.

They are not the law and theres rules for them to and just because they have there own rules dont make them legally right. In fact most retail outlets display totally illegal notices and there fully aware of it. 

Such as no returns  No cash refunds.etc. If you pay buy cash and then need a refund for a legal reason you can demand payment in cash the same as you gave them. They try it on but it does not make it legal.

i agree send to any address if you're not covering yourself with PayPal Seller protection anyhow,

but, if you want to send something that is covered, you should get the buyer to change the shipping address in PayPal when they are paying.

I have about 6 or 7 different addresses in my paypal, so when I buy something for the daughter / in law / or my son or my grandkids I have it sent to them direct, but I make sure I change to their address in checkout before paying.

that is why it is important to check the paypal address, as that is really where the buyer wants it sent to.

A spy or miniture camera is basically the same thing , just because miniture was added surely your big enough to work it out.
