Left negative feedback

I sold and item (161249882438) a while back listed under "for parts not working" and also stated in the description that I didn't know if it was working or not. I posted 10 clear photos of the item and offered if people needed more photos taken I could. It couldn't have been clearer the condition of it.

Item was sold and I was left negative feedback of "faulty parts" when I clearly stated it was "for parts not working" Buyer didn't contact me at all for a resolution.

ebay refuse to do anything about the feedback and wont even answer how i should list things if my listing wasn't good enough. I still have a few items to sell off the bike so this is important to me to get an answer.

I am an honest seller and have been an ebay customer for over 10 years. Look through the feedback I have over the years, i'm not dishonest at all.

The first time I have actually needed help from ebay to fix something and they can't answer my simple questions like if the buyer was so dissatisfied with the item wouldn't you firstly ask for a refund? ebay say I listed the item incorrectly yet can't provide an answer of how I should list it? Very poor effort I say.

Re: Left negative feedback

I think it might be worth your while to call eBay directly and insist on speaking to a supervisor until you get someone that understands you essentially received a neg for the item being as described - for obvious reasons I can't guarantee you'll get a result, but the information / condition that the buyer had a problem with was available in the listing, and some sellers do have success with (unrelentingly) contacting eBay about similar issues.

Re: Left negative feedback

Unfortunately the call centre is off shore and scripted, hence sometimes difficult to get action through.

I would probably just leave a follow up comment -

"Parts were listed as faulty not working. No contact made"

I doubt it will effect your sales. Smiley Wink

Edit - And try as DG suggests.

Re: Left negative feedback

I have put off calling them as I would rather things in writing for my record. As you say I have contacted the with unrelenting success, just seems like they can't see the forest for the trees.
It's a pretty clear cut case for me, they didn't apply for a refund because I have done nothing wrong and therefore it wouldn't have been granted so they have just left me negative feedback. ebay keep on failing to answer that question though- because they also know the answer like I do.

Re: Left negative feedback

Yes i doubt it will affect my sales, but it's the 10 years I have been around for that annoys me without a hiccup and when I actually need help from ebay they don't really care it seems. You are right about scripts- 2 of the replies I had were exactly the same, yet I asked different things, and the second reply had some username in it that I'd never even heard of!

Point is I have done nothing wrong, but trying to get the through to ebay is nearly mission impossible. I have time and patience though and one thing is for sure i'll keep on their case for a long time yet about this.

Re: Left negative feedback

Its eBays policy that negatives may be removed where the description clearly states a condition or specific that is in fact the issue that a buyer is unhappy with and stated in the negative.

I would ring again and request to speak to a supervisor if you get no success with the first canned response provided by a rep. Also stay calm, be super polite and very clear and firm about exactly what you are seeking and why.

Re: Left negative feedback

I just checked your feedback, no negative there.  So hats off to eBay I suppose!

Having things in writing is all well and good, but generally you need to TALK to somebody with some level of authority. Which emails will not normally provide.

If ringing them and getting the neg removes works, surely the object - removal of the neg - has been achieved and no written trail is needed.

Re: Left negative feedback

Good outcome people- I have indeed had the feedback removed in the last few hours. I'm not sure if this thread helped or it is coincidence in that nothing happened for the last 6 weeks or so.
I find it astounding at the lengths I had to go to and the hours spent but it was worth it in the end.
Even better is the precedence has been set for the other items I wanted to list a month ago but couldn't due to not knowing the "correct" way to list them, but now I can finally list some stuff again.
Thanks for the support and I can finally give thanks to ebay for seeing that I had done nothing wrong and had listed the part correctly.

Re: Left negative feedback

Delighted for you that eBay have seen fit to follow their own policies and remove an unjustified negative.

It is such a pain that significant time and a range of tactics have to be used to have this occur - should be a no-brainer for any eBay rep 😞
