I hit my 40 free listings this month, and 11 of my media items auto-relisted and attracted a $1.65 insertion fee for each (11 x $1.65).
I thought media was supposed to be chraged at $0.05 per item?
9 items were Movies \ Other Formats
2 items were Music \ Other Formats
I downloaded the current Fees By Catergory (AU) pdf, dated 18th April 2019, and it seems to indicate it should be 5c per listing.

It seems the $0.05 insertion fee for media is only for those that have stores and pass their 600 free listings.
A bit misleading that it is linked to on a page 'Selling fees without an eBay store'.

I think that's only if you have a store. For non store, $1.65 (after you've used your free listings) or $3.85 for start price over $100. Experts? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I usually end my listings before they relist, then take time to consider if they are worth relisting or replacing with different stock. Sometimes I forget and they clock over. It can be a trap

That was the page I read, and I got to here:

I had an 'eBay chat' and they were telling me that the PDF is meant for 'Optional Listing Upgrade'. I'm not sure how you can upgrade your listing to media if it isn't already media?
They are going to cancel my auto-relists and credit me the insertion fees.

Welcome to eBay Australia, which has been the most expensive eBay region in the world for over twenty years when it comes to insertion fees. The only thing we have going for us right now is that the fees aren't in USD, following the hat trick of bushfires, federal government ineptitude and coronavirus.
If you pay for a basic store you'll get 600 (not a typo) Good 'til Cancelled listings instead of 40 and those above are 5c. It all comes down to if you're making enough to cover the store fee and can actually be bothered listing hundreds of items.
BTW, next month, check to see if an auction listing auto-relists without eating a free listing or charging $1.65. With auctions you can still have Buy It Now attached and the 10-day versions last 3x as long as GTC if they don't sell (10 days + (10 days x 😎 = 90 days). Of course though, if you are one of the unlucky ones where even auctions don't relist for free you're right up by Ship Creek as far as non-store accounts go.
To add to this, you can't do auctions with a store which for the life of me I can't understand. It is currently the only thing stopping me opening a store
