I usually have a break for 3 or 4 days over the Christmas break.
This year will the first one where we have automatic re-listings .... meaningitems will list on Christmas, Boxing Day.
What is everyone else doing ?

Closing up on Monday for a break and will re-open next year.

Will you take off your automatic re-listings and re-list them again next year?
eg - if you have a lot coming up on 15th and they relist for 10 days .... that will take you up till Christmas Day.

I've always kept my store open over the Christmas / new year period (this will be the fourth Christmas with the store, as I opened late 2011), but I do put a notice up mentioning all the Australia Post holidays, as there tends to be very few days between Dec. 24 and Jan 2nd where mail can actually move or be delivered, and often send a message as well if someone buys just before an extended AP break.
I have been toying with the idea of taking a break this year, though, just because this has been my first year where I've really had a rush to deal with for Christmas, and while I'm managing, it's been a little exhausting.
I probably won't, as I expect sales to curb fairly dramatically soon enough, and everyone in the past has been quite understanding an accepting of delivery delays if they did make a purchase around that time.

I havnt closed my stores for nearly two years and are suprised when sales occur. Last christmas day was actually quite a good sales day. Personally I can think of a few other things I would rather do on Chrissy than sit on ebay.

My last lot of auctions ended on December 7, and I am not listing anything again until December 27, not even if we are given 1,000,000 free listings (hey, it's been known to happen---once).
There is too much chance of buyers complaining if something does not arrive before Christmas -- or takes ''too long'' to arrive due to the December 25+26 double whammy public holiday. Even if your auctions end in plenty of time, there will still be those buyers who won't pay for 7 days and 23 hours (just in time to avoid a strike) and plenty more still who will take the eCheque way and be annoyed when their payment does not clear until after Christmas.
It's a risky time of year, and I can't tell you how many negs/neuts I have seen on other sellers' accounts over the years for the simple reason of 'didn't arrive for Christmas'.

Thank you for all of that ๐
I think I will just keep going and leave the listings on. I always send out an email when I post and will mention Christmas delays to buyers. Cross fingers ... I don't seem to have any complaints that way. When you think of it .... most people should be aware of this.
Thanks again.
