Money Back Gurantee, Sellers now have to pay return shipping cost

Hi,

Under the new Money Back Gurantee policy sellers are now respoisible for return shipping costs. I dont have a problem paying return shiping if its our mistake, but SNAD cases are a different story.

Ebay will just add the retuen shipping cost to your account and bill you.

To be honest, a great many sellers have been covering return postage for (genuine) SNAD cases anyway - I always have. My reasoning is that my mistake or not, none of my buyers will be out of pocket for an item that doesn't arrive or isn't as described. The only time I won't cover return postage is if the buyer just changed their mind, or the error is otherwise their responsibility (eg misuse).

I don't like how eBay are handling MBG requests, though - I believe sellers deserve the opportunity to contest a claim without risking a "case closed without seller resolution" defect, and I believe they have the right to (more easily) contest a return if the item is returned incomplete or obviously damaged through misuse.

Yep totally agree on that one, return policy now sucks, as you pointed out no flexibility in it, for items sent back incomplete or damaged by the purchaser, it is just set in stone one option only refund buyer in full no matter what they return, whereas in the past when us sellers handled most return cases ourselves, we could give partail refunds on incomplete returns ect, now Ebay return system is very one sided, and the verdict everytime is seller is always guilty and shall be punished with a defect and a full refund , buyer gets off scott free, as butter does not melt in their mouth
