An update to selling on eBay

Coming at the end of April, we're introducing updates to improve our online marketplace and make selling easier. Learn more about the changes and what they mean for you below.

What this means for you

We’re updating our subscriptions for sellers who want more flexibility and control or who sell higher volumes.

This includes a new Pro Starter plan subscription for sellers who use advanced selling features, like multi-quantity and multi-variation listings.

Based on your usage of these selling features, we believe you’ll have the best selling experience with a Pro Starter plan.

  • The Pro Starter plan reflects your current selling experience and includes access to advanced selling features, as well as expanded shipping and payout options and additional customer support.
  • This plan has no monthly cost and you will continue to pay final value fees, as you do today.

Free selling

We’re introducing free selling in late April for Australia-based sellers with up to $25,000 in sales annually. Eligible sellers will no longer pay transaction fees when they sell on eBay.com.au, across all categories.

Learn more about selling fees and how your sales are evaluated.

Free selling is intended for sellers with simpler selling needs and does not include access to advanced selling features or scheduled payouts. These sellers will have to buy labels on eBay for eligible items. A Buyer Protection fee will also be added to their listings and paid by the buyer to eBay.

Based on your current selling activity, you'll qualify for free selling.

You don’t need to do anything right now; we’ll confirm your eligibility in late April and explain how you can cancel the Pro Starter plan if you would rather take advantage of free selling. If you choose to cancel, you will lose access to the selling features available in the Pro Starter plan.

No

If free selling you don't have to buy labels for envelopes, or if less than $20, or local pickup?

Re: More unwanted enhancements coming

I sell small value items. What is happening to the "local pickup option"? I certainly want to retain control of the most vital part of selling which is the delivery. I try to sell to local buyers who can collect, even if it means fewer buyers. I will never agree to eBay's demand to only use their postage label.

Re: More unwanted enhancements coming

It will be interesting to see what buyers think of an extra 4-8% of the purchase price for buyer protection - on this so called ' free selling '.

Bit like their ' free postage ' garbage.

Yes it will be interesting as buyers are paying for an intangible, its only of value if things go pear shaped and given eBays record of help when things go wrong, many buyers won't be happy paying it.  Also will Free sellers see an increase in compulsory eBay Label costs to cover the lack of fees, if not immediately then over time.  (Sorry, price of oil has gone up we don't want to, but we just have to increase the price.  We promise to reduce when its cheaper again. 😞)

Ah yes...they introduced this to ebay UK last year as 'private’ and ‘business’ sellers and people weren't happy

Re: More unwanted enhancements coming

You can opt out by closing you account.

Hence why eBay are automatically moving sellers over to this new system.

I didnt see any other option to not accept and still keep an eBay account to sell items.

Re: More unwanted enhancements coming

eBay has charged seller GST for postage for years even if we never used ebays labels . So when we go to the post office and pay to send that item that was sold on eBay we are paying double GST on postage.

once to eBay and once to the post office..

Maybe eBay have to due to this ??

Either way its garbage.

How about eBay start publicly displaying their account books and the amount of tax they pay to Australia  !!!!!!!!

Why would I opt out with over 12,000 sales - just go Pro starter - seems all will remain as is.
