At present, my home phone number is showing to other sellers.
Can I alter a setting somewhere, so that my phone number does not show?
I this can be done,
can a member please tell me how to do that?
Regards,
John.

If you registered your phone number when you joined ebay the sellers get that information along with your name and address when you buy anything.
Some sellers use it, some don't.
I often get overseas parcels with my phone number on the address label, particularly from Asian sellers. but always from sellers using a courier.
Alll courier deliveries have to have a phone number in case the company cannot deliver the parcel.

Can you please tell me if I am able to reverse that feature?
And could you tell me how to do it?

As far as i know you can't hide your phone number. I don't print postage labels, but the phone number might automatically appear on that, which could be why it's showing on a postage label. The number is visible on the sold page on the phone app. You could try changing it to a made up number, but they might want to send a code to it to confirm the new number. Otherwise, put your mobile number if you have one. I've only ever had my number on overseas purchases. I don't recall it being on any domestic parcels. Maybe it was and I didn't take any notice, because I really don't care, as long as I get my parcel.
I'm not sure why you're concerned about your phone number being visible. I'd be more worried about the address being visible. No-one from the postal areas are going to steal your number and sell it to telemarketers. They really don't care about anything other than getting your parcel to you in one piece. People who get hold of your address could come around and rob you. They can't do that with a phone number.
You said you have contacted some of your buyers by phone a few times for whatever the reason. What if their number wasn't visible to you? A seller can get your details if they aren't visible. Same as you can get a sellers details.

To get rid of your phone number is simple.
When you go to pay for an item all your details will show your name address and under that will be your phone number
also,if that's the case then click on edit detail and that will give you the option to delete your phone number.
Just back space your number and then click update that will then show just your name and address.

Thank you eezipeezi888, I didn't know I could do that.
I will do that in future, but I was sure that when I joined ebay,
there was an option to; "Make you phone number visible to sellers".
Does anybody remember how to find that option now?
Or am I remembering incorrectly.
Any help is much appreciated.
Regards,
John.

Just edit the number out when you go through Checkout if you don't want it visible to strangers.
I can't see any reason to remove it from ebay altogether...you have said yourself that you have contacted other members by phone on occasions.
As fo a false number....that would be a very foolish action IMO. If a member wants to contact you and is given a false number they can report you to ebay for false contact details....your ebay career may be very short lived.

Hi Lyndal 1838,
I will now do that at checkout.
I didn't know I could do that.
I didn't want to remove the number from ebay altogether,
just not be visible to sellers.
Thanks to everybody for your advice.
Regards,
John.
