Unless the product is from an Australian registered seller or reseller a warranty means nothing. After this amount of time there is nothing eBay or Paypal can do to help you.

That should read " Australian registered authorised seller or reseller"

Did you buy many things in October last year? Were they all not fit for purpose? Have you ever read eBay's Terms and Conditions? Especially the bits about claim times?

You have no recourse, as padi has said. Unless the seller is an Australian business who has the right to sell the product/s.

As mentioned, seller warranties are worthless unless offered by an authorised distributor.

Ebay themselves won't and can't help you in this instance as sellers themselves are responsible for all listing content. Ebay couldn't possibly check billions of products to see if a warranty is genuine or not.

I don't know what type of item you purchased and how much you paid, but Ebay is not the place to be dropping big dollars on items with no proper guarantee or backup. Oftentimes the item is a knock off anyway.

You can see if your seller is registered in China/Australia if you look at their feedback page. You can also tell a lot by their feedback score if the products they are selling are good quality or not.

I agree with what other posters have said.

All you can do if you left feedback back then is add a follow-up. If you didn't leave feedback, unfortunately it is too late to leave it now.

Please for anyone reading this,  take it with a huge grain of salt.   Yes there are knock offs on Ebay,  there are knock off's in bricks and mortar, and on other sales platforms as well.

But,  there are many, many good sellers here as well, who are not selling knock off's, there seems to be a big thing going around of everyone pulling down Ebay,

Hi, I'm very sorry to hear of this bad experience.

Besides feedback, you only have one other road which could  be a dead end. Sometimes not! With following up on feedback and you have to be very careful what you write as seller can ask for it to be removed.

The other road is contacting the seller and saying that you will contact eBay to alert them of dishonest practices and will not let up. You can also say that you will contact authorities. Occasionally seller gets concerned and will do the right thing.

So

"Attn seller: After 4 attempts to contact you about this faulty item and having been ignored,  I would like to advise that if you do not reply within 48 hours with a solution, I'm going to do this....  "

In other scenarios, people have said to businesses that are not doing the right thing .... ....  "Would you like to be audited"?

As you're probably fully aware 4channel, follow-up feedback after 11 months (particularly for a high-volume seller) will not be seen without a lot of research by prospective buyers, who at best would only be looking at negs or neutrals on the feedback.

The other road is contacting the seller and saying that you will contact eBay to alert them of dishonest practices and will not let up. You can also say that you will contact authorities. Occasionally seller gets concerned and will do the right thing.

eBay will do nothing about that sort of threat, particularly if it's an overseas seller. Likewise a threat to "contact authorities" will likely be like water off a duck's back. Again "authorities" in Australia have absolutely no power against overseas sellers.

So

"Attn seller: After 4 attempts to contact you about this faulty item and having been ignored,  I would like to advise that if you do not reply within 48 hours with a solution, I'm going to do this....  "

Again those are empty threats, how is the OP going to "audit" the seller? Involving the courts against an Australian registered seller, unless it's a very high-priced item and the OP has money to burn would be futile in the long run.

As has been said many times before on the boards "Caveat Emptor" is the only real solution.

This tactic has worked for me in  the past. It's not about what eBay will or won't do. It's about telling seller what one will do. Some don't want to be reported regardless of what eBay will or won't do.

The audit thing that you should have picked up on is about telling seller that an outside entity could do an audit. Sellers who don't do the right thing by their customers may not want that kind of attention. In another scenario this tactic worked for me.  Regardless, it's worth a crack. 5 mins time max (incl spelling check).

Regardless of what happens when reporting this seller to eBay it is worth a go as well. Seller could be doing this to other buyers as well.
