Negative feedback... can I refund instead of sending item.

Hi

 

I run two accounts on Ebay... I have no problems with buyers and my business acct but selling through my personal account seems to open a whole can of worms!

 

I've sold some clothes... they buyer wanted to pay in a weeks time and I said very nicely through an email that payment was due within 3 days and I would give them another 2 days to pay. (too many people aren't paying me at the moment). Wished them a nice day etc...

 

Anyhoo.. payment came through today - I left positive feeback... then she wrote "I am appalled at how rude this seller is. Never again."

 

I don't really want to send the item as I'm sure she is going to complain about something... can I just refund the item through paypal straight away and block her and be done with it?

If she has paid, I would be inclined to post the item, then block her from further purchases with you.

Also, you have the right of reply to her feedback. Give a polite, factual reply to explain what happened. It can be a challenge doing it in 80 characters allowed, but it can be done.Smiley Happy

try ringing ebay first, stress to ebay it was retalitory negative feedback and you may have it removed. dont delete any messages so ebay can read them. dont post till you talk to ebay.

Hello,

 

It's definately not nice when people leave negative feedback as it's not always a true reflection on you or your business. Some buyers tend to do it out of spite (as its a powerful ammunition). Us sellers dont have any ammo when it comes to leaving feedback as we can only leave positive.

 

What works for me, allow the buyers to leave feedback first. If there is an issue with the item or anything else they will contact you and its so much easier to resolve and you'll most likely obtain positive feedback.

 

If you want to remove the negative feedback, best to speak with Ebay. Vary raely would they have it removed though, however its worth a try..

 

As the buyer has already paid, in this instance they are happy for you to ship this item.

 

If you expenience people who dont pay, just send them an email like you did and request payment if they don't pay I believe after 4 days you can cancel the transaction and ebay will refund you your fees. This way you can relist and your not loosing out on anything.

Negative feedback can be crippling. I too run 2 accounts ....1 for business and this one as private. We have just rec'd a negative feedback in our business account and I am sure it is some sort of set up.It is on our least expensive item and the feedback was personal  and not related to the item.Most upsetting, I have not replied as I have found that not responding for a day or two lets me be more diplomatic in reply.

I think the negative is so hurtful because it is there everytime you go to your account. I know I have done nothing wrong and that some people really are nasty and even worse when they can be anonymous.

I have had similar issues with requesting overdue payment and have had negative feedback in the same way as you have ....incredible that they actually attack because you have the nerve to ask for payment.

Send the goods and honour your side of the sale, they have aleady left a negative ....can't really get any worse.

It would have been a lot better to have just said OK as ebay give buyers eight days to pay anyway. If i were that buyer I would have been annoyed too, you can insist on payment within 4 days or you will open a dispute which gives them another 4 days but giving them a dressing down because they could not pay until near the end of the time ebay allow them was never going to be received well. If buyers peeve you off then think what you want and then put your customer service hat on and be at the very least diplomatic.

What on earth are you on about Phorum_ Junkie? There is NO dressing down here and the seller

can set their own preffered payment period. Are you seriously saying that the seller deserves

a negative feedback???

Based on wanting to be paid??? Based on something that has not even been received and can not fall into 

any of the correct DSR rating scores. Exactly what is negative feedback about in this case - someone that is peeved off, emotianal and abusive!

Simply outrages as the feedback should be factual and not an emotianal "**bleep** for tat" as some prefer to call it.

eBay allow a buyer 8 days before they impose sanctions. Ergo, requiring payment before that time is pointless as it is unenforceable.

 

I don't put any timeframe on my listings. As long as they pay within 5 days I send. If they don't I open a dispute, they generally pay and I send.

 

Never had a neg yet, so I must not be antagonising buyers too much.

Well, good on you! But, suprise, suprise - this is not about you and this is not about me.

Just like the negative feedback given for no reason at all.

I'm sure that everything will go just Jim Dandy for you as far as eBay selling is concerned

and if it does't, well that is OK too, as I'm certain that the buyer will have a very legitamete reason for leaving you

a neg comment and they are sure to get eBays full support on it and you will be cool with that.

 

So everyone wins in the end!

I found that over 90% of my customers were choosing to pay with paypal. So I took off the bank deposit option and require immediate payment. Never a possiblitlity for a non payer ever again.
