So I presume everyone received the email re the new extra small satchels. Just wondering if anyone has been able to find the dimensions, as I've been totally unsuccessful.

I also asked at our local PO this morning and they know absolutely nothing about them and haven't even heard of them.  TIA

Re: New Extra Small satchels

Exactly.

The email said I could purchase the satchels directly from AP. Nothing showing in AP.

As it is stated as an exclusive short time offer I think I will wait until I can use MyPost Business to use the facility.

That will fit a lot of my books, but I am loathe to use eBay postage. I guess I'll wait until they are general issue.

Re: New Extra Small satchels

This is an eBay money grab designed to increase their postage labels revenue. It is aimed at inexperienced, infrequent and extremely low volume sellers - i.e. those who would be on AP Band 0 or AP Band 1

Given that the extra small satchels are only available through eBay postage labels, I see no personal benefit from them whatsoever. In fact, if one considers cost vs benefit, the service is actually waaaay overpriced.

There's also the wording of "prices start at" to consider. This indicates the quoted price applies to "Zone 1" deliveries.

So using simple math...

eBay label:

Extra small satchel $0.25

eBay labels "prices start at" $8.55

Total "from" $8.80

AP Band 0:

Small eBay satchel $0.15

Postage labels "prices start at" $10.95

Total "from" $11.10

AP Band 1:

Small eBay satchel $0.15

Postage labels "prices start at" $9.86

Total "from" $10.01

AP Band 2:

Small eBay satchel $0.15

Postage labels "prices start at" $8.21

Total "from" $8.36

AP Band 3:

Small satchel $0.15

Postage labels "prices start at" $7.67

Total "from" $7.82

AP Band 4:

Small eBay satchel $0.15

Postage labels "prices start at" $7.12

Total "from" $7.27

AP Band 5:

Small eBay satchel $0.15

Postage labels "prices start at" $6.57

Total "from" $6.72

Therefore, a seller on Band 2 or higher will actually increase their postage cost by using the new extra small satchels, while redirecting a significant amount away from their total spend with AP. This could possibly result in the Band dropping a level and therefore increasing their AP label prices.

Re: New Extra Small satchels

Read eBay's carefully crafted release and you can assume this service will be rolled out nationally by Australia Post soon, eBay appear to be getting their branded satchel's first:

"For a limited time from 30 April 2025, eBay sellers will have exclusive access to Australia Post's brand-new Extra Small Flat Rate Satchel service"

That's the way I read it.

Re: New Extra Small satchels

And the catch is the padded mailers will cost $9.95 for delivery. So serious bulk is required to make them viable. A 30 pack would be $16.45 - 55c per mailer, which brings them up to small satchel costs with any level of MyPost Business discounts. Another win for eBay's bottom line.
