No sales?

No one has started a "my sales are dead" post for a few days so I thought I'd keep the tradition going.

Anyone else suffering from a run of "lights out" at the moment?  My website shop is also similarly dead.  Maybe it's the time of year or maybe it's just me.  How are you going?

End of month for approx 2 days = sales drop

Ebay Fees due for approx 2 days = sales drop

happens every month not only for me but a number of people I know....Coincidence? Don't think so. Know from an inside source at Ebay a couple of things

Last month of the day today sales = 2 normal average on a Saturday 8 to 10....go figure!

Interesting observation and my sales have stopped and my February eBay invoice due in 2 days time...

"Your invoice amount will be automatically deducted from your PayPal account between 15 March 2020 and 17 March 2020".

If it were true that nobody got any sales (or greatly reduced sales) for 2 days before the end of the month then ebay's income would plummet on those days. I'm really not sure how you stop everyone buying for a couple of days every month!

If the same applies to the two days before or after an invoice is due (can't understand which they mean) then half the sellers on ebay would be getting no (or few) sales for those days.

What I did notice in the past was that I seemed to get an increase in sales in the few days after the monthly invoice came out. Never really nailed it down as a definite, but it appeared that way.

I,m not sure what others think, but it appears to me that all of that heavy handed, visibility manipulation and swales throttling ended around 12 - 18 months ago. My combined store monthly sales used to regularly be within 1 - 2 % variation every month without fail. Sell an expensive item and things went quite for a few days etc. Doesn't happen now. My sales seem to be relatively free from visibility manipulation.

The only thing that still seems to apply is that the more you sell, the higher your visibility and the more you sell, the less you sell, the lower your visibility and sales continue to fall ( eventually into an ebay death spiral. ). And secondly if one item sells, other similar items listed get a boost in visibility for a short while. So it is possible to sell two or three similar but different items in perhaps a 48 hour period.

I suspect these days ebay is under a lot of pressure and genuinely trying to generate as many sales as it possibly can. Some of the practices of the past have probably been retired in order to just keep stock moving and sales - any sales happening. It also seems some of the antagonistic ebay policy pressures sellers where under and constant changes have been toned down a bit in the last 12 months.

All up that makes ebay a better place for traders who have the goods buyers still want.

I have always found sales drop just before the fees are due, but it also happens with other large bills. This month sales are up slightly and the next few days should drop but i will wait and see.

My invoices are all calendar month, but do all accounts fall due at the same time ?  If so, that would make eBay's cashflow happen in one big hit every month which would appear odd from a corporate perspective.  Mine are debited 14 days later.
