Non Paying Buyers

I am confused  as to E bay's Policies and procedures regarding non paying buyers, I recently had the same buyer bid and win on over 20 of my items, I was concerned initially because the bidder had no feeedback but during the cause of my auctions feedback was left for the person which was positive.   However no contact from the buyer over 3 emails left me to open an unpaid item dispute, since that time the person has received "positive" feedback from other sellers all with the same message, that the person has not paid for their items.

My question is when does EBAY step in and ban this buyer, it seems on EBAY that all the onus and goodwill is down to the seller with little consequences for these serial pests

Re: Non Paying Buyers

Ebay doesn't reimburse listing fees, nor the time spent which is a cost of business, and one every bit a cost as a monetary one, everyone that operates a business knows this Ebay sells it services people selling their items, it should ensure their is a mechanism to stop dishonest and fraudulent persons using their service, after all its not like a seller can prosecute or have charges brought against serial non payers as they could if it was their own business

Re: Non Paying Buyers

@dynamite_warrior  I think your a little confused. Sellers dont generate ebays income, the buyers do with out buyers there is no sellers with out buyers and sellers there is no ebay.

So when you think about it the buyer pays everything. For the item ebay fees postage PP fees all comes from the funds generated from the sale which comes from the BUYER. So no buyers no eBay.

Yes i understand you are frustrated buy NPB,s but eBay really have there hands tied in the modern computer age. More and more custom is moving elsewhere slowly but surely in the quest for bargain basement latest and greatest must have items. They no this so hence they allow people to some what be relaxed in there attitudes in making payment. I mean really if they are not willing to pay ebay can not make them and if ebay bans them permantly like it use to be, there soon will be half the amount of users here.

There have been many NPB,s that have gone on to buy since not paying and that is sales and money ebay and sellers need. I think that ebay could allow sellers to relist the item if this occures for free and returning the FVF as they currently do if you open a dispute.

Think of it like this you are frustrated buy people not paying and fair enough but what about the other side the fence the buyers who wins a auction on here that is a bargain only to have the seller not want to sell it to them because they feel it never made enough money. Imagine a buyers frustration in those cases and there is very little they can do to force the seller to sell it to them.

Same goes for sellers if a buyer decides not to buy there is very little you can do to force them to other than follow ebay rules.

Re: Non Paying Buyers

Sorry, cannot agree to your flawed logic, the fact is the the majority of EBAY's income from sellers around 60-70% in fact because it is the listing fees which generate the most income hence EBAY's decision to increase the fees. Most sellers who list sell 30-40%of items listed.

Banning serial NPB makes it easier for genuine buyers to bid and win on items without the frustration of being outbid, as for not selling something because you don't think you have received a fair price, i have never as a seller have reneged on an auction for that reason and sellers who indulge in that practice should also be banned from EBAY.

EBAY does and can have total control who sells and buys from their service and should be responsible for ridding the recidivist's from the auction process

If I  list items in my store and not one thing sells... who pays the store fees every month and listing fees once my "free listing threshold has been reached ??

If I list a vehicle and the vehicle does not meet reserve or does not sell who pays the fees????

If I list an item that is subject to a NPB.... who pays the listing fees?????

If I list an item at auction in most categories and I do not get a bid who pays the fees?????

Who GETS the fees for the third party advertisements that are placed strategically around my listings that did not sell ????

Ebay can survive without sellers making purchases as long as they can con enough sellers to list

Who pays the fees ???

Ebay does nothing. I've had 34 non payers in 12-18 months. The frustration of lost time and having to lodge a non payment matter is ridiculous and in the mean time I've lost all those initial buyers.  I have re-advertised and have not re-sold. Why am I (we) not compensated?

If it were up to me, everyone should have a credited Paypal (or any bank account) linked to Ebay and you only able to bid if you have the funds and payment is made automatically from the successful bidder.

Re: Non Paying Buyers

If you only have BIN listings you can specify immediate payment by checking the paypal only  immediate payment required box

... you will never have another NPB .....

on the downside you will never get another bank deposit payment again either

Re: Non Paying Buyers

Unless seller runs eBay business at loss, and pays for the unsold item listing fees from some other income, it is always the buyer where the money came from.  Re-listing costs are all just part of the business.  You pay eBay to have a space on their site; if it sells or not is relevant.

I have seen buyer's FB where they had a number of false positives for non payment but then had much larger number  saying "thanks for immediate payment" or something like that.  Why should they be chucked off eBay?   It is up to you how many strikes you allow before bidders are blocked.  I used to have more than 1 in 12 months, now I relaxed it to 2 or more in 6 months.  I check the log regularly, and the number of people that get blocked has gone down, but the number of non payers has not increased.

@***super_nova***

Thank you for making that clear , Of course the funds must come from the buyer, It does not matter if you have 50 listings and 20 sell 5 NPB the money that makes the payments to ebay still comes from the 20 sales you made it still the buyers money paying it all are you guys just being silly . The bulk of the money ebay receives is from the buyers sales. If you as a sell have missed managed your sales etc that is not ebays fault. And if you did not sell anything you would not be here for very long as it would not be viable now would it.

Its simple why try make it hard to understand.  You get 200 listings free for a start. You only pay if you list more which you add to the cost of the items your selling.

The funds to pay these fees and FVF all comes from the buyers who purchase goods from you how hard is that to understand.

No buyers no need for sellers then there is no ebay is there. Buyers are the heart and soul of the business as there's always someone selling something.

This does not make every buyer a saint , In business you soon realise that there is no satisfying everyone but the more that you do the better your business will be for it.
