Non payers

I dont understand how we can leave neg feedback for nonpayers? It looks like as a seller, i can only leave positive feedback so how do we warn each other of non payers and if there's no way to leave negative non payer feedback, what is going to stop buyers from bidding-winning-not paying?? Help?

Re: Non payers

slr, you wouldn't happen to know the date that was posted by michelle_oz would you?

I'd be interested to see how much work has gone into locking threads in that time. As I said before, some have been locked but certainly not as many as were we were expecting - like ALL threads over around 12 months.......................

7th June 2017 padi, just prior to the phase one changes.

On that private discussion thread I also posted my suggestion about locking all threads on a board then only unlocking the ones that have had a post within the last 12 months.  This would take much less time then going to the last page on the board thread list and locking old threads one by one.

Re: Non payers

Wow, over 4 months and very little action taken..............

Spoiler
Why am I not surprised?

Edit. what a good suggestion, that would have made the locking process a walk in the park........................

sorry folks, it appears that that thread is on a board that is only accessible by those that were part of that private discussion thread with michelleoz prior to the implementation of the changes to the boards.

Re: Non payers

Thankfully, we've only come across one, so far. It is very annoying and time consuming especially if you don't subscribe to the eBay full automation process.

I have a question, but it's more about feedback for these and similar nuisance buyers. With the restriction eBay has placed on neg feedback I feel we are put in a position where we are prohibited from telling the truth, thereby not only being untrue to ourselves, but potentially putting other hard working sellers, who have invested in eBay,  at risk too.

I'm wondering, although I probably know the answer, what would happen if, with the positive tick you are compelled to provide, if your accompanying comments were, 'NO COMMENT.' In essence, you're not saying anything negative, but I guess eBay will take the point of view in terms of the inference drawn.

It is terribly unfair at the moment and there must be a better way than just Carte Blanche outlawing neg feedback. And that leads me to another question and I'm serious, because we haven't been caught in this situation yet. When you give that positive tick to a buyer of questionable repute, what do you actually say in the comments field? Do you lie and say they're a terrific buyer? This is all sorts of wrong. Or, do you just not leave feedback?  None of this is making much sense or resonating with my sense of 'commonsense' and notion of a 'fair go.'

Still learning. Still concerned and very confused about many of the changes.

That makes sense. Can't have mere members having evidence to hold eBay staff to account.

Padi, a similar question was asked a few weeks ago and I dug up the information that Sir has posted.

At the time, less than 3 pages of selling questions had been locked out of over 400 pages....they were from 2010, 2011 and 2012.  It had taken 3 weeks for that to happen.   I have since checked it out again and NOTHING further has been done except for these ancient posts that are being dragged kicking and screaming to new boards so we can kick and scream at the waste of everyone's time.

It seems that we are just being treated like mushrooms....still.  Promise us anything....they know we cannot force them to keep their word.  Just like the regular discussions with ebay staff.............................

If you have an awful buyer who has been nothing but a pain, don't give them any feedback at all.

Why boost their score even higher & make them apear better than they are?

You can't give positive feedback with a negative comment without risking getting into trouble with ebay & the buyer can get it removed anyway. You may be able to put 'no comment' but I would not be totally sure of that-it does have a negative connotation and a rep may remove it.  It really isn't much use anyway as no other seller will see it unless the bidder has already bought from them or made a bid.

If you think about it, the only use of feedback is for buyers to gauge if a seller has been around a while or seems reliable.  When we talk about feedback for buyers, all it is showing is the person has had x amount of successful transactions. Some sellers might have blocks in place for very new buyers or be wary of them so getting a higher score helps get over that hurdle. If you give any green dot to a buyer, it implies a satisfactory experience with them.

Your best bet is to give no feedback at all for difficult transactions & if the bidder is actually a non payer, just to open an unpaid item dispute and give them a strike for non payment.
