One of the most unlucky buyers ever!

I just received a neutral which in itself is no drama.

What is interesting is when you check the feedback she has left for sellers, 7 of the last 12 are for missing & damaged items.

She has received refunds for most of these items - I didn't refund which I assume is the reason for the neutral.

I would have usually refunded but after checking her feedback I decided she is either FOS or should have figured out by now there is a problem with her mail service.

Things that make you go Hmmmmm

One of the most unlucky buyers ever!

I had one of those last year. He bought an item, it was sent quickly and not long after he sent me a SNAD with a message complaining that the item was not what he was expecting and he was unhappy about it and felt ripped off. I read through the listing to make sure I had not made a mistake in the description, and a few (polite from me) emails went back and forth as I tried to work out what the issue was and how I could help him. He wouldn't go into detail other than to say that he felt decieved, and complained that there were no instructions (which there were), so I prepared myself for a neg - which never came, and he stopped communication after a few days. At no stage did I offer or give him a refund, and he didn't demand one at any point, I think maybe he was hoping I would just refund and avoid a fight.

THEN I checked his feedback left for others, and lo and behold, a very long history of negs and neuts for unsatisfactory purchases, and lots of revised feedback thanking sellers for 'resolving the issue, or for giving refunds. He's still at it, I check his profile every few weeks and it amazes me that someone like that can get away with it for so long. Ebay really does need a system for flagging buyers who consistently lodge INR and SNAD disputes. It is theft via intimidation and scamming IMO.

As with issue mentioned in OP post, I would always report such buyers to ebay.

Ebay won't necessarily do anything about it, but bringing it to their attention is better than not.

They wait to be notified of such trading conduct by other ebayers. They do not act independently of complaints in my experience.

I'm guessing that they don't even follow up if they get one isolated complaint but when a buyer (or seller) attracts a lot of attention for their poor behaviour that's when you see some action.

Only a few months ago, a buyer who had a clear history of non-payment and non-communication and who I amongst many others had the misfortune to cross trading paths with, was de-registered by ebay.

I actually contacted other sellers at the time who had had the same experience with this ebayer and found that a proportion of  them had already notified ebay. Possibly, they had already issued a warning to the buyer about upping their act or possibly not, but if they had done so, it hadn't had any effect on their rotten ways !!

I told other affected sellers who hadn't contacted ebay about their experience with this buyer, that I planned to and suggested they might consider doing the same, if not for their sake, for the sake of future sellers who may in turn be affected by this person.

Some must have done so, because not long after, this particular buyer was de-registered.

A very 'long story' to demonstrate that in some cases it really is worth taking action.

I know that the vast majority of buyers are honest & I do have many stories of wonderful people I have dealt with.

But there are people out there you are rorting the system & not leaving a trail.

If this buyer was smart she would never mention the refunds at all & we would never know.

I think if a refund is issued then it should be marked as such so everyone can see how many refunds & claims have been made.

Maybe a tally of refunds sent & refunds received - not sure how it would work but I think it would help both buyers & sellers.

If she's lodging disputes via Paypal, don't worry, Paypal will catch up with her eventually and cancel her account.

They did it to me, for the simple reason that when I'd made purchases through other internet sites, I had lodged disputes for INR, (all legitimate) only raised the disputes because by day 44 I hadn't received my items as yet (Ozsale & BuyInvite, gotta love their slow delivery). I closed all the cases once I received the items. As Paypal tell us, if you haven't received items by day 45 open a INR Dispute.

I have only ever had one case found in my favour for the measly amount of, wait for it, $3.56. Received an email from Paypal advising they have cancelled my account on the grounds of too many Disputes, despite that only one was ever escalated and that they feel that Paypal does not wish to conduct business with people like me. **bleep**!!!

I politely pointed out that I only raised the disputes as items were not received within the 45 days as per the "Buyer Protection". It took 2 months of daily emails demanding if they do not wish to conduct business with me then they immediately delete my personal details, banking info et, and not keep my info for 18 months as they pointed out in their email. They finally agreed to reinstate my account.

So , if she has too many claims Paypal will catch up with her!
