What is the wierdest thing you have sold or have stored in the shed?

A discussion on another thread got me thinking. What is the wierdest thing people have sold or have tucked away in the shed ?

For many years I had a two headed lamb ( from one of my stud ewes ) in a ten litre paint tin full of metho. It stayed on a cupboard in the shed for years until we had to move. It had always given the wife the creaps, so i phoned several museums offering to donate it, but no-one was interested. In the haste to move it just got thrown out. As mentioned in another thread I have a 1970,s Pink Panther Brothel ( Kings Cross )  booklet / programme ( would you call it that ? )  with photos and bios of all of their "models". All very tame by todays standards but great Pink Panther graphics. This is packed away with an original first series Le Girls programme.

I have the cast iron cigar cutter and rope maker and one of those chain measurers with all of the brass tags. Another interesting item is a trench warfare periscope. Two mirrors on an extendable frame that folds down into a pocket sized case. I also have a "gizmo" that pilots strap to their legs with a leather strap. It is a series of metal discs in a case with numbers and lines on them. I believe it is for navigating.  Still new in the box, I originally had two. The other one sold on ebay for several hundreds of dollars. In my years of trading I have come across some superb items, but just keep the really quirky ones. It did hurt to sell the mint Ferrari Dino owners manual set in original leather case ( $375.00 ) a few months ago, but we cant keep everything.

What is the most interesting thing you have sold or have tucked away ?

Good thing the family has a sense of humour.

A uni-cycle that my daughter was obsessed with when she was around 12 or 13. That was over a decade ago now and she has 'flown the nest' but everytime I look at it sitting in the shed, slowly getting rusty, I feel nostalgic and can't get rid of it !!

Hi Betty, I know the feeling. I went to an auction once and there was a doll collection offered. No-one wanted it so I went home with over 300 dolls. These where packed in trunks and stuck in the shed. When my 6-7  year old daughter would do something special or just be really kind or thoughtfull to some-one, she was allowed to go to the trunks in the shed and select one doll or accessory item. This was a really big deal for her as we didnt do it often. There are a number of very collectable dolls in amongst the trunks, but they are all still there. My now teenage daughter often reminices about getting something from the doll trunks, so she can have all 300 of them when I die ( or get carted off to the home ) . Maybe she will play the same game with her own daughters when shes older ?

Oh he is allowed out as long as he remains quiet.

Shortly after our marriage (1988) we hosted a dinner pary for 6 of our closest.

Among the guests was a very dear friend Roger - a hairdresser & a very dandy dresser.

t

Roger arrived looking splendid in grey leather with the finest thin leather tie in Christendom.

My OH wearing a T & jeans excused himself from the table & was gone for a short while.

He returned - sat down - looked at Roger & said 'You call that a tie'.

Looking like Barney Rubble - he was wearing a carpet snake skin around his neck.

This was of course around the time of 'Crocodile Dundee'.

The carpet 'tie' is still in the shed & surprisingly we are still married.

I used to write music reviews for a magazine, and this one time the editor asked everyone if anyone was game to review a CD he had already deemed horrible. I put my hand up... Smiley LOL

Anyway, a couple of years later, for a lark, I listed it on eBay under the title Worst CD Ever, along with a suitable (and as far as I was concerned, accurate) description / review.

I started it at 99c free post, but no one really looks for "worst CD ever", however, someone from the forums spotted it and mentioned it in a post, and after that there was some bidding activity. Ended up going for $20.50.

It was a bit of a gimmick to get the paddocks cleaned up....it worked....I was going tp have to pay someone $18 per hour ( back then) otherwise...
