Opened unpaid dispute, what now?

Hi, I opened an unpaid dispute about 6 days ago now. Firstly I emailed buyer after 3 days asking about payment & sending another invoice. Left anger couple of days never heard back. Opened the unpaid dispute & it has been about another 6 days & no word from the buyer. So just wondering what do I do, do I keep waiting, does eBay chase them anymore? I thought bidding on eBay was a legal bid & you had no choice but to pay if you won the bid, is this not correct? So just wondering what I do next, thanks

You can close it 4 days after it's opened.

So if you haven't heard anything from them, close the dispute now.

Your fee will be credited back to you, buyer gets a strike and you are free to relist or offer to an under bidder.

Add the buyer to your Blocked Bidders List.

Also set blocks on your account to block bidders with unpaid strikes.

I've just left instructions on setting up blocks here if you're not sure how to set up blocks.

Just to clarify, as above you can close the dispute after four days..... you actually have to "close" it to get your money back - closing it means the buyer hasnt paid and you want your money back. You can then relist the item.

I am closing a dispute tomorrow... contacted the buyer a few times with no reply at all... yet she is still buying other things on Ebay!

You just reminded me of something that I'm not sure if it was mentioned. If a dispute has been opened and you forget to close it, eBay will eventually close it (I think after 30 days?) and if that happens, you lose your fees. Always best to jump on it at day four.

I wasn't directly replying to you GTX, you just reminded me of that with your comment, so thought I should mention it for the OP.

I've also had non payers that are continuing to buy when they are ignoring you. I put it down to change of mind and they think that by ignoring it, it will just go away.

Im actually getting really sick of people bidding on my items and have no intention to pay for the item. And when trying to contact them they don't respond. Why doesn't ebay suspend their account and do something about it?? It's not fair on other people bidding or the seller. Ebay would be slot better selling site if we got rid of people not doing the right thing, and it states its a legal binding agreement so where is Ebays back up?

EBay won't do anything about it because buyers are protected. Suspending their account would ruin their fabulous buying experience.

It's not so much they bid with no intention of paying.

Buyers bid on many items at the same time as they have often been overbid in the past.

Then when they win one, they simply ignore the rest. Some don't even log back onto ebay once they have won and paid for the item they first won.

It's more about education. ebay should have a simple step by step guide for beginner buyers and one for beginner sellers, outlining the usual pitfalls and what not to do. Their current rules are too indepth and often forgotten by beginners. Not to mention hard to find.

Thank you so much everyone for your answers & posting how to block sellers I didn't know how to do that. It just seems so unfair to sellers when this happens & the buyer lets you down like this & that there is not more eBay can do to make the buyer pay for the item if they win the bid. I will close the dispute, block them & then relist, thanks again everyone

Don't forget  .... leave feedback BEFORE your close the case, otherwise you don't have the option.

As you are only able to leave POSITIVE feedback,   leave your comments in capitals

eg.  NO PAYMENT, NO CONTACT.   CASE CLOSED.

Otherwise others can't be alerted .
