Opening an open an unpaid item case.

JUst out of curiosity how long do most sellers wait before opening an unpaid item case.

In my listings I ask that payment be made within 3 days after the auction ends. If payment isn't received in that time I will send a reminder and if no response to that within another day or two then open an unpaid item case.

I hav had some buyers telling me not to be so impatient.

Thanks,

Given that people can use paypal now, I can't see why anyone would need more than 4 days.

Back in the past when payments were mostly bank transfer, some people needed to go into the bank to make the transaction. Pick up items-you might get people who ask to do it on the weekend & depending on when the sale finishes, that could be 5 days off.

But for any other purchase, I think 4 days is a reasonable time to have waited. And if your listing specifically mentioned payment within 3 days, buyers are pretty rude to call you impatient, they knew the terms before they pressed BUY.

Pointless saying you want payment in anything under 4 days as that is how long ebay allows a buyer before you can open a dispute. I don't mention anything about when they have to pay, gives them the impression it is OK to wait. I send an invoice on day 3 saying can they confirm payment as I have been unable to trace it theh if I don't her from them after the end of the 4th day I open a dispute. The vast majority of my buyers pay without me having to send the invoice and nearly all the rest pay up before I have to close the disute on day 8.
