I've discovered something much worse.
Shredded paper
Looks like the bottom of a Guinea Pig's cage, and it's a bugger trying to stuff your bean bag with it.

I received a package with it today, it did the job and my goods arrived safe and sound, but now i got bits of paper everywhere LOL
Funny thing you mention weight though.
I bought two wooden platters, thought they would be really heavy cos they're pretty big. When i got the box from the PO today, I thought my box was near empty, so much so that i opened the box at the post office in front of the post master so i had proof if i hadn't been sent what i ordered. but all was good, everything was operfect, even though i left a trail of shredded paper in my wake....

nuts - big as you can find
bubbles - small is better coz they make a right mess when they pop

I scrunch up newspaper. The best way to insulate from shock as there is a heap of give.
Plus the buyer gets to read old news from another part of the country. Or TV guides from several weeks ago.

depending on which newspaper you use, if you send the comics page they may be able to read peanuts.
