Paypal alternative

Hi,
I have been selling on eBay for about 6 months now and have 40+ positive feedback. No negative. I am sick of Paypal holding my money for no reason when I have had no issues.

I recently sold an item and mailed it immediately and Aust Post have lost the item and will be reimbursing me as the item was insured. I have given ebay and the buyer all this info and have refunded the buyer while I wait for the reimbursement from Aust Post. The buyer put in a case to ebay and they ruled in their favour even though I have all tracking info and emails from Aust Post and have refunded the buyer. Ebay has now debuted my paypal account the amount of the item even thought the buyer has been refunded so they have recived twice the money back! Should I appeal to ebay/paypal or is this a waste of my time? I have tried to speak to someone on the phone but have got nowhere.

Is there any alternative to using paypal? I know you can use a merchant account but assume this is complicated to set up etc. Does the paypal all in one payment system - Paypal Payments Standard work the same way as a normal paypal account?

Someone else mentioned Braintree to me also. Is this not allowed as a payment method on ebay?

Sorry for all the questions - I'm confused and annoyed!!

When you refunded the buyer did you use the refund button on the buyers original payment.

If you didn't how do ebay have any record of you refunding the buyer?

The OP indicated that they provided this information to eBay.

It is not acceptable that two refunds can be issued to a buyer due to loopholes and glitches in the half baked eBay system and the incompetence of those administrating it.

It is also not acceptable for eBay to offer a resolution process that does not follow due process.

Did the OP just tell ebay or did they provide proof of a refund to ebay? There is big difference between saying something and proving it.

A seller should not have to "prove" to eBay they refunded an eBay purchase via paypal.

It will show as refunded if paypal refund is issued from that eBay transaction, even if you do not use the eBay  link to get to it - as you know.

The OP has indicated that they used the REFUND button.  Not send.

teatowel_baby - if you refunded through the refund button on the payment I would be very surprised if Paypal have sent through a second payment to ebay. I have heard of other sellers thinking this has happened but when they looked into it they realised it hadn't actually happened.

I also know of a couple of sellers who rang Paypal as they thought it had happened and it was explained to them that Paypal will not issue a refund twice for the one transaction. We all know of course that sometimes things do happen which don't make sense which may be the case with you.

Ebay and Paypal are linked so it is very easy for each side to see what is happening as far as payments/refunds go. I would keep an eye on my account over the next couple of days and if Paypal have definitely refunded a second time I would give them a call with the transaction numbers ready so they can see what is happening.

clarry - it is an ebay claim which requires proof of delivery - not just proof of postage.

Here we go again! Under Australian Consumer Law, an item is deemed to have been delivered by the seller once it has been handed to the carrier. Ebay has no legal right to distinguish between deemed delivery and actual delivery; therefore proof of postage is the same as proof of delivery and eBay should not have ruled in favour of the buyer. How much longer are they going to be allowed to get away with this flagrant breach of the law?

eBay thinks they are way above the law.

It's about time the 'tall poppy' syndrome caught up with feeBay.

Interestingly I just went through the refund process as a buyer. The seller was a pain in the ass so I sent the item back tracked post at my own cost ( it was faulty wireless headphones and stopped working after one week) . I got a refund for the transaction not return post ($8) and the seller wont refund and ebay dont give a damn.

So the system failed me as a buyer just as it fails sellers.
