Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

Hi, I just had someone buy an item but we have both agreed to lower the price. I can't work out how to do that via the invoice, as the recalculate button isn't doing anything. Please help. Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

Re: Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

You can't change the price of an item, you can only adjust the POSTAGE.

So basically,if you have a postage amount, change that appropriately ie discount it by whatever amount you've discounted the item you've sold & DON'T hit recalculate as that just reverts it to original price. Then hit Send.

If you don't charge postage ie free then you would need to Mutually Cancel transaction & relist at a BIN that you've agreed on.

Re: Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

It's impossible to lower the price of an item on an invoice - you can only change the postage amount, and recalculate is actually "reset", so changes the P&H back to the original amount. (To alter P&H, just enter the new amount and send).

The only way to sell at a lower price would be to cancel the current transaction, and re-list a BIN at the agreed price. If it was an item being posted and you can discount the P&H enough to make the total the agreed price, you could do it that way, but you'll still be charged FVF on the original sale price, so if that would be a significant difference, I'd go the cancel transaction / relist way.

Re: Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

Thankyou both, very quick replies and as usual very informative. ๐Ÿ™‚ The postage is freight so is that able to be reduced? The eBay fee is only about $2 less (by leaader-of-the-band's spreadsheet) so I don't mind about that. How do you type in the discount, is it "-25.00" or with a space after the "-" like "- 25.00" ? Thanks again.

Re: Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

Just alter the amount of postage to whatever you want to charge.  lets say there was $25 and you want to take $20 off the price, just enter $5.  If the postage/freight was 0, then you obviously cannot reduce it.  If the postage was $10, you can only change it to 0.  You can explain to the buyer that you cannot take off any more, ask them to pay and as soon as they do, go to your PP account click on the issue refund next to the item, fill in $10 (or whatever) and refund it.  Or you can re-list and start all over again............

Re: Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

As Foxette and D*G said, I asked them to agree to a cancellation (as postage couldn't be lowered as it was freight) but I ended up just issuing the invoice and saying I'll refund after that. They bought something before and have my PP details, so they offered to send the right amount directly to my PP account but that might void us both of any kind of eBay assistance, so I said that we better just stick to it on the eBay site.

Re: Please help regarding lowering item price on invoice

All they have to do is to click on the PAY NOW link, pay with PP and you can refund as soon as you get the PP notice.
