Hi all,
I know there are a ton of threads currently on the changes in shipping prices but none really answer my question.
Does anyone know if eBay will be updating the new price structure and secondly has anyone continued to use the older prices and if so, did they go through OK? I am not so much fussed about saving money so much as saving time. It took me ages this morning at the PO to individually weigh each parcel and then outline what extra covergae etc i needed as opposed to previously just having each parcel lodging.
Any thoughts appreciated.....constructive that is.

I also want to go back to printing labels, as it was easy to get family members to drop them in at the Post Office, but I don't know how to interpret the following which is from the Australia Post website, or whether it is blackmail to use their packaging or not be able to print labels. I use my own packaging and will not buy their flimsy overpriced boxes, when I can get cheaper and better ones. What do others think.
Getting past the idea that Aust Post boxes are flimsy - because i don't think they are -
Why not just buy the Aust Post satchels designed for printing your own labels? They are only a few cents each if you buy quantities - average about 40c say, and then you can put your own boxes inside the satchels if you want - and still qualify for the new Australia Post postage/labels price

Ebay still uses the old system and old pricing which for those sending under 500grams or large items to neighbouring regions will be cheaper than over the counter.
As it is at the moment you have access to a cheap 500 gram rate via ebay or the new flat rate Aust wide at the Post office for everything else.

Well the prices have already risen in reality for me as I really don't want to send using the old eBay postage prices that have not been updated as I don't want my buers to have to pay any under payment fee. All my parcels are between 1-2kg generally if only one item and due to the fragility I have to pack in copious amounts of bubble wrap and strong boxes which mean satchels really aren't suitable.

What I have been doing is clicking on "print label" to see the postage cost, and then selecting "tell us what you think" which is down the bottom if my memory is correct, and send a message via this to Ebay. (only allowed one message a day) I do this every time I sell something, and I would encourage others to do the same. The more complaints they get, might make them hurry up to do something. Just make sure not to click on "create label" as you will be charged if you do.
I am not finding the old prices. I am finding that within my state is cheaper, but other states are much more. but less than the prices were prior to the change. I am getting this on 1kG parcels, so I can't speak about the 500 gram ones, as I haven't had any as yet.

Yes, it is getting very frustrating waiting for eBay to update the new pricing structure. Not only is it wasting a lot of time at the PO having to individually wait for the staff to weigh and add any extra's and then label, eBay are still charging the FVF postage even though essentially they are not offering the service, unless you want to risk buyers having a underpayment fee at the other end. Does anyone know if there is a grace period like there usually is for the older prices?

The ebay label is a negotiated rate between them and Australia Post and will be accepted and never questioned or charged more when delivered. Once the label is printed and staff have accepted it you will have no problems.

I am not signed up with an account to be able to print labels via the Australia Post website. I have no desire to do that, being just a casual seller.

I cannot use satchels as my items would be damaged. I need to use boxes. I buy them at less than half the price that the post office charge, and they are much sturdier and are not covered in advertising.

I do know that, but it doesn't solve my problem. Most of my items are 1Kg.

I know, but did you read my whole post? - you could put your boxes inside the satchels to qualify for the cheaper rates.

What a pain that would be.. I use different size boxes. Have you ever tried to fit a box into a satchel? It is very difficult to work out what size as the satchel is flat and the box is not. I looked at one, would possibly fit and I would end up with a much higher postage rate. It would be cheaper to print my own label and just pay too much for that than try to go down the path of trying to fit boxes into satchels. Most of the satchels would only fit small boxes from what I can see. None of my boxes are less than 35cm in length, most are more than that.
