Postage Prices

Hi all,

I know there are a ton of threads currently on the changes in shipping prices but none really answer my question.

Does anyone know if eBay will be updating the new price structure and secondly has anyone continued to use the older prices and if so, did they go through OK? I am not so much fussed about saving money so much as saving time. It took me ages this morning at the PO to individually weigh each parcel and then outline what extra covergae etc i needed as opposed to previously just having each parcel lodging.

Any thoughts appreciated.....constructive that is. Smiley Very Happy

Re: Postage Prices

The otherday I had made a box to fit into a satchel but was made it slightly too big. My solution was to cut the satchel down the side wrap it around the box and just tape it up. Many times I have had boxes too long for the satchel so same thing just let it stick out the end and cover with tape.

Re: Postage Prices

I think I'll just stick to putting a label on the box. Either printing them myself or paying over the counter whichever works out cheaper until such time (if it ever eventuates) that they correct the prices so i can print all of them. I am not selling enough to bother with anything else.

Re: Postage Prices

I'm quite happy still paying for cheap rates for under 500g satchels. Saving a fortune on postage. I post fragile items and have never had an issue putting a box inside a satchel. Better than paying way more for sending as a parcel. Each to their own though.

As for paying via AP. It takes about 5 minutes to set up and is no different to printing an eBay label. Only difference is, you print it from the AP site rather than the eBay site. Sometimes for over 500g parcels, it's cheaper to print from AP rather than eBay. Again, each to their own.

All changed today but I am not sure that it is behaving properly.

Processed one small satchel at $8.65 the next satchel was $8.95

At eBay's current postage pricing MyPost is looking much better.

Base AusPost rate is $8.95 but you can score a discount if you

put enough through on a regular basis. Can't remember the threshholds though.
From memory the first discount is 10%

Anyhoot it looks like AusPost may be a better bet unless eBay can do better.

Re: Postage Prices

I printed two small satchels just now, the same size options for both one to NSW and one to VIC. One says max weight 5kg and the other says max weight 500g. Probably rollout glitches.

Yes the difference in charge for the same size satchel must depend on the location of the buyer.

grr.

Hang on. I just did the same parcel ( one to Vic and one to Broome ) at the AusPost site

and both were $8.95

It's AusPost for me until eBay plays more nicely.

Re: Postage Prices

eBay have added some odd code to Address Line 1 field of their labels.  Something to do with Australia Post.  Like this:

ebay:enzbzwk

Now that eBay have removed discounts we moved back to MyPost.  But when you import orders into MyPost the annoying code goes too and MyPost complains with an error message due to the code:

'This order has incorrect or incomplete information. Please review and fix the order and then save'.

You then need to cut and paste the correct address from line 2 into line 1 to fix the error <GROAN>

Spent another 30 minutes with 'customer service' explaining that one and told them I moved to MyPost as you at least get some discounts there...

If you click turn on auto complete, it will pop up with the code + address then click that and it deletes the code part out and just puts the address. Saves some copy pasting.
