Postage can't be calculated for your area. You can contact the seller...

I'm selling an item that's 14kg and size is 49 x 32 x 40cm.  I have specified all these detilas when I created the listing.  Can somone advise me why I'm getting the dreaded red message on the Postage Tab:

"Postage can't be calculated for your area. You can contact the seller for additional postage costs and services"

I have sold heavy items before and auto-calculated postage has worked fine, so not sure why I'm getting this now.  The listing has been up for a number of days.

I also jumped on Australia Post web site, went to the Postage Calculator, plugged in the same numbers and it gave me a cost, so surely eBay uses the same web service to auto-calcuate its postge?  Surely?

Thanks!

lemmayj thanks, you're absolutely right about the chat forums linking to ebay US instead of AU.  My listings are definitely created on the AU site.  It sounds like the postage issue is with eBay (the girth thing) mentioned above and nothing can be done about it until eBay fix their calculator.... bum 😕

Well, actually, there is a fix you can do if you don't mind a bit of math.  The sizes are only in there so that AP can work out whether the volumetric weight is bigger than the kg weight, so all you need to do is change the weights so that the volume remains the same but you're no longer outside the ebay imposed girth limit.

You have

49 x 32 x 40

Try changing to 98 x 32 x 20

Volumetric weight stays the same but hopefully measurements are now ebay compliant.

Worth a try, anyway....

Thanks for the suggestion lemmayj,I'll have to try plaing around with the figures on a future listing.  Once a buyer places a bid, those parameters are locked out for editing.

Also the way eBay box size fields are marked, it's hard to tell which one is L, W, H.  I can only assume the last field is height.

Thanks for the respnses everyone!  🙂
