Just a heads up to those who may not have heard. Product identifiers are now compulsary on new listings and EXISTING Good till cancelled listings from March 1st in a much extended range of catagories ( looks to be most catagories to me ) .
This only applies to items that are described as NEW and not used items. Existing GTC listings WILL NOT roll over if they dont have the product identifiers. The announcement doesnt say if they will go to unsold listings or just vanish into the ether. Basically if sellers have not already updated listings, the time has come. For further info see announcements or maybe one of the computer savvy forum users can post a link.

Yes... Tnx for the reminder.
We are fevourishly working thru all ours to add in "Does not Apply".
But while we are at it we are updating pricing to cover recent postage increases and negative impacts from the exchange rate.
So it gives us an excuse to update listings and tidy up a few things really.

As you stated the 1st of March,(So that would include those that roll over on that date):

so with the clothing, is it just
shoes?

The latest announcement includes the clothing catagory, but says ( only shoes ) in brackets next to this, so I would assume it is shoes only. The information given is not very comprehensive.

Thank you for the info. I had the email from eBay almost had a heart attack. Some of my items, eg old books which don't have an ISBN, don't make the mark.
All good and thanks again.

You can select does not apply. In fact i have been doing that whether it does or not, as product identifiers are pretty useless for clothes. Its not worth the effort looking them up and adding them

That would answer the question I was going to ask as I have three new items that don't have barcodes and two listings that have
10 and 20 DVD's in them,(as well as 5 magazines in the 20 lot).
Would the 10 and 20 items need to have all the barcodes put down or just click does not apply?

Yep, the product identifiers n barcode n manufacturer numbering etc.
I just select does not apply.
I tried doing it all correctly and due to some stuff up as the
items got relisted all the indetifiers got removed and
at one stage n probably still doing it the numbers
were getting verified n validated n refused at one point.
So nope, not interested.
Plus if u import n manufacture then might also b a headache.
I'm in business , to make money not get headaches.
N if its to compete with other online sales via identifier
searches then ebay will lose as elsewhere is cheaper.
So identifiers would be a bad thing for sellers.
Guess its for DSE, oh they gone , ok Biglee n others next..

Does the addition of product identifiers only apply to items listed in stores? I don't have a store so do I need to worry?
